David Green is a Stand-Up Comedian and pun expert based in Niagara Falls, Canada. With nearly 2 decades of experience performing comedy, he is known as “The Punniest Comic in Canada.” David has been featured on City TV’s Canada’s Got Talent, at Just For Laughs Toronto, and as the headlining act on The Circuit, Canada’s first clean comedy tour. For the last 8 years, David has also been the Festival Director of the Garden City Comedy Festival in St. Catharines, producing a four-day festival event and events throughout the year. The organization also teaches a grassroots comedy course to students across Niagara interested in stand-up comedy.

Confidence is key when it comes to delivering jokes, and equally as important when flirting. If you’re telling a joke and you don’t have full confidence behind it, the person you’re telling it to will feel that, so being confident would be my main advice.

How do you write a great joke?
First, think of a premise that you want to joke about. Then, if you can, find a feeling to attach to it so you can get a connection across to the audience.

I find that with puns, writing, and wordplay, I try to condense the joke as much as possible to get to the laugh as soon as I can. To do this, figure out where the laugh is that you want to get to, and then figure out the setup and punchline. Remove any unnecessary filler words, and keep your setup as concise as possible to get to the punchline and the joke's surprise as quickly as possible.
