Thomas Tijerina

Thomas Tijerina is a Cultural Sociologist based in Anderson, Indiana. With more than 15 years of experience in community development, higher education, and public scholarship, his work explores race, identity, culture, and social belonging in the 21st century. His teaching and scholarship sit at the intersection of critical sociology, cultural studies, and community-based practice, focusing on how people build meaning, resilience, and connection in changing social environments. He teaches college-level sociology at Cincinnati State, with previous teaching positions at Purdue University and Anderson University. In addition, he creates accessible educational content across various social media platforms. Thomas holds a BA in Sociology from Anderson University, an MS in Urban Studies (Community Development) from Eastern University, and a PhD in Interdisciplinary Studies with a Humanities and Culture concentration from Union Institute & University.
