Do you have fungal acne on your forehead? Here's what you need to know about how to identify fungal acne, what causes it, and how to treat it.
Fungal acne typically appears as clusters of small, red bumps on the skin that are similar in size and shape. The uniformity of the bumps makes the acne look like a rash. Fungal acne on the forehead can be caused by excessive sweating, wearing hats that trap sweat, or using certain hair products, especially oily ones. You can treat fungal acne by using topical antifungal creams or shampoos, taking oral antifungal medications, and keeping your forehead clean and dry.

What people might call "fungal acne" is just acne vulgaris–classic acne. I've been in the dermatology world 25 years, and I just treat acne as acne (unless it's not responsive to treatment). I have never had a patient that doesn't respond to traditional acne treatments.

To be clear, "fungal" acne isn’t really a thing—it’s just acne. What people think is fungal acne is typically small, grainy bumps—maybe a mix of blackheads, whiteheads, and clogged pores all together. But it’s not an entirely separate condition. Treat it like you would any other acne.
