“Onika burgers” is a meme that originated on X (formerly Twitter) in 2023. At the time, X user @PopBase posted a drawing of Kris Jenner that was completed by Jenner’s granddaughter, North West. Another user replied “she ate,” a slang term that essentially means “she did a good job.” Another user then replied, “she=onika ate=burgers.” This second reply seems to be an off-topic comment about rapper Nicki Minaj. Minaj’s real name is Onika, and the X user seems to be making a comment about her weight by saying she eats burgers. From there, the “Onika burger” meme took off—most likely due to how random and nonsensical it is.

Onika Burgers stems from a Twitter thread where PopBase tweeted a picture of North West drawing Kris Jenner. The tweet was, "North West draws her grandmother Kris Jenner." Some random person tweeted underneath it, "Why she ate?" Then someone underneath said, "She = Onika. Ate = Burgers." Essentially, the joke was saying that Nicki Minaj eats burgers and Nicki Minaj is fat, but it got co-opted to just be "Onika Burgers." Onika Burgers is now just a meme that people say when they want to either troll Nicki Minaj or just be funny. It's transcended beyond Nicki Minaj, and "Onika Burgers" is just a thing that chronically online people say.
