It's relatively easy to find other therian friends online by going to chatrooms and talking to other people. Of course, if you’re younger, it’s always important to be safe on the internet, but there is a large community you can find online. Also, check to see if there are therian meetups in your city, they’re called howls! In some locations, therians will host meetups for the community. But again, if you’re a minor, it’s always important to be safe, don’t tell people your address and don’t host small meetups with people you meet online. It’s best to only go to meetups that are properly hosted in public, they’re safer! Make sure you have a trusted adult with you.
If you want to find some therians safely in your area, like at school, you can try wearing something to subtly flag down other therians. Something non-therians won’t notice, but a therian will see it and think “oh, that might be a therian!” The Therian symbol, the theta delta, is an easy one. The only issue there is that non-therians might recognize it, but if you’re fine with that, then that’s an easy one! There’s a chance another therian will spot it and approach you to start a conversation about it.

One major problem in the Therian community is finding connection, because a lot of Therians are othered by society in a way. I mean, it is kind of abnormal or unusual to identify as a Therian, so you get a lot of pushback, especially if you’re more expressive and open about it.
I’ve personally experienced an enormous amount of hatred online just for posting openly about being a Therian. So, taking that risk and posting about it is just not worth it for some people. But one thing I recommend is: if you’re watching Therian content—like even my own—check the comment sections. You’ll often find other Therians interacting there. Finding others through those shared interests is one way to connect.
Unfortunately, there’s been this recurring issue in the community where kids would post things like, “Therian meetup at [location],” or there was even a trend, “Post your city to find other Therians near you,” and that’s just not safe. Please do not share your location online. I try to emphasize that there are better ways to find connections. Look in comment sections, reply to others, maybe move to DMs when appropriate—but please don’t comment your address. That’s a real problem that happens in this community because people are desperate for connection, but it needs to be safe.

There are a lot of ways to find therian friends... but not all of them work. I suggest going to your local Renaissance festivals or local festivals in general. If people are dressing up for some sort of occasion, you might actually see somebody else wearing a mask or a tail. That is how I have met most therians in the wild, going to different events like that, especially Renaissance festivals. I think the vibes there just draw in therians.
Making therian friends online can be fun, but it is important to have internet safety and to make sure that your therian friends are around the same age as you. You should also never give information that is too personal to online friends.
There are also alterhuman groups, like Pumpkin Furry Mart on the West Coast or Pups in the Park in England. If there are groups like that near you, I recommend giving them a visit.

If you want to make more therian friends, check out the Therian Guide forums and Discord server to see if there are other people that are near you. You'll be able to chat and make new friends online, and you can sometimes find IRL meetups with other therians happening in your area.
Because they're interested in animals and nature, therian packs are often working with animals or studying nature. Animal shelters, zoos, and biology labs are all great places to check out and find friends who are therians.
If you've found a local therian community, share your experiences and tips for others to help find their pack too!

GO TO A RENAISSANCE FAIR. THERE ARE SO MANY GAY PEOPLE, FURRIES, DND NERDS, AND MORE-- IT'S LITERALLY F-ING HEAVEN. *clears throat* Apologies for my outburst. It's just amazing, and a great way to meet furries. They sell lots of tails, pride flags, ETC. I love it so much man.

i'd only be dangerous if someone hurt me/my friends/my family, and it was on purpose. but in general, I'm pretty friendly! so, no, not all therians are bad.
