Have you heard someone at In-N-Out order a burger “animal style” but can’t find it on their menu? There may only be a few items listed on the actual menu, but In-N-Out’s infamous secret menu is where you'll find the most delicious options. Even though these items are normally hidden, we’ve got all the secrets for customizing your meal just the way you like it. Satisfy your cravings next time you’re at In-N-Out by adding any of these items to your order.

Burgers & Sandwiches

   Double Meat Burger If you want a Double Double but aren’t a fan of all that melty cheese, just ask for a Double Meat Burger instead. You’ll get 2 juicy burger patties topped with lettuce, tomato, and In-N-Out’s secret spread.

   3 x 3 (Triple Triple) Want more meat and cheese on your burger? A Double Double on the menu has 2 patties and 2 slices of cheese, so a Triple Triple is exactly what it sounds like—3 burgers and slices of cheese with crisp lettuce, juicy tomato, and their signature spread all between 2 toasted buns.

   • If you don’t want an extra slice of cheese, order a “3 x 2” or “Triple Double” to get 3 patties and 2 slices of cheese.

   4 x 4 (Quad Quad) The perfect meal for a meat-lover, the Quad Quad has 4 patties and 4 slices of melty cheese and is the biggest burger on the menu. Your burger comes topped with lettuce, tomato, and secret spread.

   • While you may have heard of a 5 x 5 or even a legendary 16 x 16 burger, In-N-Out only uses a maximum of 4 patties and 4 slices of cheese for each burger.

   Animal Style Burger You’ve probably heard of this delicious burger since it’s one of the most popular items on the secret menu. If you tell the employee you want Animal Style, the cook will coat the burger patty with mustard while it’s cooking for added flavor. They’ll also mix their signature spread with pickles, grilled onions, and cheese on the grill to put on top of your burger.

   • You can order any burger Animal Style, so just be sure to specify the size you want. For example, if you want 2 patties and 2 slices of cheese, order a “Double Double Animal Style.”
   • If you’re not a fan of onions, ask for “Animal Style, no onions.”

   Mustard-grilled Burger If you’re not a fan of all the extra toppings on an Animal Style burger, just ask to have the meat “mustard-grilled” when you order. The cook will slather the patties with mustard while they’re on the grill so the tangy flavor infuses with the beef.

   Protein Style Burger Are you on a keto diet or have a gluten intolerance? Rather than getting a toasted bun, ask for any burger as “protein style” to get it in a lettuce wrap instead.

   • Looking for something a little more flavorful than lettuce? Try asking for “Bigfoot Style” to get your burger between 2 slices of juicy tomato.

   Flying Dutchman Why bother with the bun or any toppings when you can just get the meat and cheese? Ask for a Flying Dutchman to get 2 patties and 2 slices of melted cheese all by itself.

   • Make sure you ask for a fork and knife too since this burger can get a little messy.

   Grilled Cheese If you’re not hungry enough for a burger but still want a meal, a Grilled Cheese is the perfect bite of ooey gooey cheese between warm toasted buns.

   • Ask for your Grilled Cheese “Animal Style” if you still want it loaded with toppings and spread.
   • While this item is lesser known even by employees, try ordering your Grilled Cheese “Doggy Style” to get it loaded with toppings and fries all served up in a lettuce wrap.

   Veggie Burger (Wish Burger) In-N-Out doesn’t serve plant-based burgers, but you’re still able to order a Veggie Burger. Instead of a beef patty, your sandwich will only have lettuce, tomato, onions, and signature spread.

   • Ask for cheese or pickles if you want them on your burger since they aren’t normally included.
