Meet the Clans of Vampire: The Masquerade
Vampire: The Masquerade is a series that spans tabletop RPGs, video games, comics, and other forms. Its dark setting and intriguing story have made it a mainstay for vampire buffs everywhere, offering a dark underworld for audiences to explore, thrive, or perish in. This underworld is host to a number of vampire clans, each with its own niche:
Banu Haqim: Undead assassins that prioritize law, order, and justice.
As a member of the Banu Haqim, you have a keen sense of justice and a commitment to the laws that bind the clans. You're upright, honorable, and uncompromising. You have no time for those who would ruin everything for everyone else, and you handle rule-breakers with an iron fist and sharp fangs. You're excellent at analyzing danger and threats, and you know that power comes from the top.
Brujah: A clan of rebels and outlaws descended from warrior-poets.
As a Brujah, you live on the outskirts. You're a maverick, an outsider, someone who doesn't fit into the normal boundaries drawn by the clans. You have a strong sense of purpose, and you're always willing to fight for your cause. To you, ideals and higher goals are everything, and without them, you're lost, so you cling to them. Best be sure your ideals are the right ones, Brujah.
Gangrel: Shadowy shapeshifters who run free.
As a Gangrel, you're top of the food chain. Some vampires prefer to think of themselves as better versions of humans, but you know the truth: You're closer to animals than humans, and you embrace it. After all, apex predators care not about things like sentimentality or other weaknesses. You're focused on reaching the top by any means necessary, and you'll use your teeth to get there, no matter what shape you have to take.
Hecata: A line of necromancers obsessed with death.
As one of the Hecata, you're not afraid of the biggest boogeyman: Death. You have a morbid fascination with the beyond, and you know that life is just a stepping stone to the next phase. You're independent and prefer to do things solo. That way, you can move freely among the shadows, keep an eye on your enemies, and travel light without being weighed down by other people's mistakes, carelessness, and foolish ideals.
Lasombra: A clan focused on ruling from the shadows.
As a Lasombra, you're most comfortable behind the curtain, pulling the strings and directing the play from the shadows. Your power is influence and persuasion, a shadowy web that stretches far and tangles everyone, whether they realize it or not. You prefer to sidestep the spotlight because the more eyes on you, the less you can work, and the work is everything.
Malkavian: Madmen gifted with twisted foresight.
As a Malkavian, others tend to find you a little crazy, but the truth is that they just can't see the whole picture. You're intelligent, clever, and enlightened, able to see into the future and plan accordingly. You're soulful, artful, and passionate, but you sometimes risk losing yourself to those passions and forgetting that survival comes before all else. Still, your creative abilities and unusual intellect guide you through the underworld, and have yet to lead you astray.
The Ministry: Cultists who use persuasion to grow in number.
As one of the Ministry, you're a master of persuasion and manipulation. You're charismatic, appealing, and alluring, and you use that power to get what you want (and need) as a vampire. You know better than anyone that this world is full of lost souls and gullible fools, and you have no problem playing the game to get a leg up on them. After all, if you're suckering someone, you're the sucker.
Nosferatu: Shifting monsters who lurk on the margins.
As one of the Nosferatu, you're no stranger to the outskirts, the shadows, the borders on the outside of town. You hang with shady characters and your friends are bad news, but so are you. You don't draw much attention, and you use that to your advantage, observing and sneaking to gain access to secrets most people could never dream of. Keep your wits about you, Nosferatu. You'll need them.
Ravnos: Independent outcasts, each with their own set of rules.
As one of the Ravnos, you're a true trickster, a master of smoke, mirrors, and illusion. While others use their fists or their words to get what they want, you see the game from above and shift the pieces in your favor before most people even know that they're playing. You're fluid, shifting, and always moving, never static, because you know that the moment you stop, they can pin you down, and your survival counts on vanishing in a plume of vapor and shadow.
Toreador: Cultured romantics who pursue love to rekindle their dead hearts.
As a Toreador, you're a true romantic, someone who understands the thrill, ecstasy, pain, and loss of love in all its forms. You're a creative, a deep thinker, and someone who feels things to your core. You use your charm to sway others and gather influence, and while influence is a game of power, your affection is a crime of passion. You know that when you feel this much, you'll fall that much further, but you don't care, because what is love without loss?
Tremere: Wise mages fractured into different sects.
As one of the Tremere, you're a towering intellect, a sharp mind among a species so often driven by instinct and bloodlust. You understand the shape of the world and how people behave, and you use that knowledge to your advantage. Others rarely trust you, mistaking knowledge for danger, and perhaps they're right to avoid you, but you find company among other great minds, minds that aren't so simple or fearful of the power of information and learning.
Tzimisce: Power-hungry scholars of the old world.
As one of the Tzimisce, you're a dragon with its hoard. The vampire's life is long and hollow, and you seek to fill it with possessions that are evidence that you lived... once. You cling to old ideals of law, order, and ownership, even while the world turns, but those ideals root you to a time long past. Nothing is safe from your reach, and your reach extends far. You'll use overwhelming power to get what you want, whatever you want, whenever you want it, and only overwhelming power could stand a chance to stop you.
Ventrue: Wealthy, cultured aristocrats.
As a Ventrue, you hover above the unsophisticated hoard of vampires and conduct yourself with class and grace. You know that humans are as good as animals, and that the only thing separating vampires from humans is good taste. You're discerning, clever, and witty, and you're willing to suffer for the cause, so long as the cause is intelligent and tasteful.
Salubri: Undead usurpers with coveted blood.
As one of the Salubri, you're perhaps the most humane and honorable among the vampires. Your honesty is often interpreted as weakness, and other clans tend to hunt you, believing you an easy target, but that's their first mistake. You know better than anyone what it means to survive, and your numbers grow each day as the righteous join your cause. Vampires are doomed to live in the shadows, but as a Salubri, you're constantly chasing the light.
Thin-Bloods: Sulk in the space between human and vampire.
As a thin-blood, you're neither fully vampire nor fully human, instead lurking somewhere between the two. Hated by both groups, you find your kin among other outcasts, people who slip through the cracks and have to make their own homes. But your greatest stain is your greatest power. While you have weaknesses from both parts of you, you also have their combined strengths, and that makes you something that's both more than human and more than vampire, and that makes others jealous.
Caitiff: Clanless wanderers
As one of the Caitiff, you have no home. You belong to no clan and claim no bloodline, and others question your status as a vampire. But you don't need the others. You're a total individual, a maverick, and a trailblazer, someone who does things your own way because other ways are denied to you. This makes you resourceful, adept, and skilled in many ways that others underestimate, and your greatest power is their unwillingness to try to understand you.
