If your Highlights are in the wrong order on Instagram, you can easily reorder them. There's no direct option to move it around yourself, but you can force Highlights to appear in a certain order by editing them from last to first. Here's how to change the Highlight order on Instagram using your iPhone, iPad, Android, or computer.

Reorder Instagram Stories Easily

To change the Highlight order on Instagram, select and edit the Highlight you want to appear last. Add a temporary story to the highlight, and then select Done. Repeat for all Stories in reverse order. Then, remove the temporary Story.

  1. You will find your profile picture or icon in the bottom right corner of your screen. This will direct you to your profile.
    • Both the iOS and Android mobile apps work the same in this process.
    • Since Story Highlights are displayed chronologically, first add the Highlights that you want to be displayed last.[1]
  2. When you tap and hold a Story Highlight, a menu will pop up.
    • Since edits force Highlights to the front, you'll need to select your Highlights in the reverse order you want them shown.

Highlights are ordered chronologically, and reorder automatically when you add new stories to a highlight. Adding a new story to a highlight moves that highlight to the beginning of the list.

Instagram highlights must be stories first. If you want to keep the story private until it shows up as a highlight, you can make the story private, wait 24 hours, and then add it to your highlights from your story archive.
