CloverPit may seem like a simple slot machine game with a strange, demonic aesthetic, but there is actually a way to beat the game. Believe it or not, there is a life beyond the cell. That said, the process is pretty janky and esoteric. But don’t worry! We’re going to break down everything you need to do to access the endings of the game.
How many endings does CloverPit have?
There are two endings. Beating Deadline #8 on any run with all five corpse pieces equipped will unlock the default ending. To unlock the “good” or “true” ending, you must:
- Unlock all four drawers.
- Have all corpse pieces on your machine.
- Ignore four red phone calls.
- Beat Deadline #8 with four scratches on your floppy disc.
Steps
The “Bad” Ending
-
End a run with four charms in your drawer. If you end a run with each drawer filled with a charm, the drawers will be full of bones at the start of the next run. You can also get these corpse parts if you have an empty drawer and you get a 666 on a spin, but that’s an exceptionally inefficient way to do this. Just play a run long enough to get 4 charms in the drawers and lose on purpose.[2]
- The bones are each labeled “corpse” in-game, but they represent a left arm, right arm, left leg, and right leg.
-
Equip the bones at the start of a fresh run. Start a new run and open each drawer. Select each set of bones to add them to your slot machine (they don’t take up charm slots). Each of these bones will increase the debt of each level by 5%, which will make the run more difficult.
- The corpse parts will disappear if you start a Deadline without equipping them, so you have to do this at the start of the run.
-
Purchase a skull whenever it appears in the shop. The last corpse part, the skull, does not appear in drawers—you have to buy it after it appears randomly in the shop. Keep refreshing the shop until you find the skull and purchase it to complete all of the corpse pieces. It will also add 5% to your debt levels.
- Don’t ignore the other charms! You do need to build a strong gameplan to get to the ending, so you must pick up solid charms to beat each Deadline.
-
Complete Deadline #8 (200,000 coins). With the corpse assembled on your machine, all you need to do is get past Deadline 8. This is no tiny feat with all of the debt modifiers, so don’t get bummed if it takes a few attempts to get this far.
-
Take the black skull key and open the door. Once you beat Deadline #8, the black skull key on the wall will become unlocked. Grab that key and use it to unlock the door to the cell you’re trapped in.
-
Interact with the slot machine at the end of the hall. You’re free! Head into the hallway, enjoy the new environment, and bask in the glory of your achievement. When you’re ready to say goodbye to the run, go check out the slot machine at the end of the hallway.
- This isn’t really a “bad” ending…it’s more like the default ending. We do recommend getting this ending first before trying for the “true” ending, which is much more difficult.
- This ending will unlock “The Structure” achievement.
The “True” Ending
-
Equip the four bone charms. Use the same method you’d use for the “bad” ending: start a run, get far enough to buy four charms, stuff them in the drawers, and lose the run to spawn the four corpse parts. Equip them, and they’ll hang out on your slot machine for the rest of the run.
-
Find and purchase the skull from a shop. Keep cycling through the shop until you find the skull and purchase it. This will add the 25% modifier to your debt and make the run harder, but it’s a requirement for unlocking the ending.
-
Keep playing until the floppy disc appears. Continue playing your run as you normally would. Once you hit the threshold for the 666 to pop up in the machine (Deadline #3), a floppy disc will magically appear on your slot machine.
- The floppy disc will help you track your progress. More on this in a moment.
-
Ignore three “red” phone calls. At the end of each round, note the color of the text that represents the voice on the other end of the phone. Ignore every red call. You can select rewards from the white voice, but do not pick any rewards from the red one.
- What causes the voice to turn red? If you get a 666 at any point in a Deadline, the next phone call will be red. This means that anything you do to increase the odds of a 666 will help you here (so long as you can beat each Deadline!).
- Note the floppy disc. Every time you ignore a red call, a deep gash will appear on the disc. You must have three gashes on the floppy disc to advance.
- Some sources suggest you have to do this before you hit Deadline #8 ($200,000), but we haven’t been able to reproduce this and prove it’s true. It seems like you can do this after the eighth Deadline so far as we can tell.
-
Receive and ignore a fourth red phone call. Once you’ve managed to get three gash marks on your floppy disc, you’ll only need one more red phone call. Keep playing until another 666 triggers and ignore the last red phone call.
- From this point on, you’ll have unlocked something called “Sacred Mode.” Any 666 you trigger will turn into a 999 and you’ll receive a huge cash bonus. You’ll also get all kinds of blessings and funky bonuses. The game should be considerably easier from here on out.[3]
-
Beat Deadline #8 and take the key. If you were already past Deadline #8 when you received the fourth red call, you just need to finish the Deadline you’re on, and you’re good to go. If you get the fourth call before the eighth Deadline though, keep beating the Deadlines until you finish the eighth Deadline.
- The key should be white now, not black. This is confirmation that you’ve unlocked the “true” ending.
-
Open the door and take the elevator. Grab the white key, step out into the hallway, and take a moment to celebrate your freedom. Look for the elevator and take that up. We’re not going to spoil anything else for you, but you’re in for a treat!
- This whole process is pretty difficult, all things considered. It may take multiple attempts to actually unlock the “true” ending.
- This will earn you the “Ascension” achievement. If you never bothered with the “bad” ending, it will also unlock “The Structure.”
