  1. When the DigiDestined kids exhibit the trait that’s tied to their crest, the crest starts glowing and powers up their partner Digimon. When the Digimon are at the Champion level, they can evolve into their Ultimate forms.[10]
    • Some Digimon, like Agumon and Gabumon, can even use the crests to “Warp Digivolve” from their Rookie form all the way to their Mega form.
    • If Digimon are forced to evolve with their crest, it can cause a “Dark Digivolution” and create a corrupted form, such as Greymon evolving into the skeletal SkullGreymon.
  2. Besides helping their Digimon, the crests also have multiple abilities that occur when the DigiDestined embody their traits. Some of the powers shown off in the Digimon series include:[11]
    • Waking someone up when they’re put to sleep
    • Emitting ropes or arrows of light
    • Reviving allies
    • Opening gates to the Digital World

  1. Homeostasis is an entity that maintains the balance of the Digital World where Digimon live. Before the events of the show, Homeostasis had the crests, Digivices, and tags created for each child and their partner Digimon to represent a trait they possess.[12]
  2. At the start of the show, an evil Digimon named Piedmon steals the crests and the tags and hides them throughout the Digital World. During the show, the kids and their Digimon travel across the Digital World to find their crests so they are powerful enough to defeat enemies like Myotismon (Vamdemon) and Apocalymon.
  3. Near the end of Digimon Adventure, the evil Apocalymon destroys the physical crests during a battle. Even though the children are worried about their defeat, they realize that the true powers of the crests were inside them all along. They use the crest’s powers to evolve their Digimon and take on Apocalymon in one final fight.[13]
