Install add-ons and plugins in Edge, even from the Chrome store

If you want to download and install a web browser extension in Microsoft Edge, it's easy–you'll just need to open the Edge Add-on store, find the extension you need, and click the Get button. If the extension you want isn't available from the Edge Add-on store, you can also download extensions from the Chrome Web Store. Read on to learn how!

  5. Click Get > Add extension.

  1. It's the puzzle piece icon in the toolbar in the upper-right corner of your browser.[1]
    • If you don't see this option, click the three dots ••• at the top-right corner of Edge and select Extensions.
  2. This takes you to the Edge Add-ons store.[2]

  5. Edge will display the permissions required to use the extension. Review these permissions to make sure the extension is something you want to install.
  6. This adds the extension to Microsoft Edge.

  1. Because Microsoft Edge is built on the Chromium browser, you can install most Chrome extensions in Edge. The Chrome store is at chrome.google.com/webstore.[3]
  2. You can browse the Chrome Web Store using the categories running along the left side of the page or use the "Search extensions and themes" bar at the top to search for something in particular.
  3. The extension's page on the Chrome Web Store displays information about the extension, screenshots, reviews, and ratings.

  1. If you want to turn off an extension temporarily without uninstalling it:
    • Click the puzzle piece icon at the top-right corner of Edge.
    • Click Manage extensions.
    • Toggle the switch next to the extension to the Off position.
    • You can reenable the extension anytime by clicking the switch again.
  2. If you want to remove an extension from Edge completely:
    • Click the puzzle piece icon at the top-right corner of Edge.
    • Click Manage extensions.
    • Click Remove.
    • Click Remove again to confirm.
