Porygon is a completely digital Pokémon in the Pokémon universe, and its Conversion ability allows you to match the skills of your opponent. Evolving Porygon into Porygon2 requires a special item called Upgrade, while evolving Porygon2 into Porygon-Z requires the Dubious Disc item[1] . You can evolve Porygon starting in Gen 2 (Gold, Silver, and Crystal). Read on to learn how to add this Pokémon and its evolutionary line to your Pokédex in most of the Pokémon games out there.
Disclaimer: All Porygon evolutions involve trading. Be sure to conduct a second trade to get your newly-evolved Pokémon back!
Things You Should Know
- Trade a Porygon holding Upgrade to another player for it to evolve into Porygon2. To get Porygon-Z, trade a Porygon that’s holding Dubious Disc.
- Evolve Porygon to Poryon2 in Pokémon Scarlet/Violet by trading. You get a free Upgrade item after logging 100 Pokémon in the Blueberry Pokédex.
- Evolve Porygon2 to Porygon-Z in Pokémon Scarlet/Violet by trading. You get a free Dubious Disc by logging 110 Pokémon in the Blueberry Pokédex.

Community Q&A
-
QuestionIn Pokémon Pearl, where can I find Porygon?
Community AnswerAfter receiving the National Pokédex, you can talk to the man living at the mansion with the Trophy Garden. If he mentions Porygon, you may find and catch a Porygon in his garden afterwards. -
QuestionHow do I evolve Porygon in Pokémon Sun?
Community AnswerTo evolve Porygon, you first need the Up-Grade, which you can obtain from an NPC in Aether House. This item allows Porygon to evolve into Porygon2. For its final evolution, Porygon-Z, you will also need the Dubious Disc, which you can acquire from Faba after defeating him at Aether Paradise in the post-game. -
QuestionWhat can I do if I don't have a friend who plays Pokémon?
Community AnswerYou should try to find other Pokémon players. Consider reaching out to those who may also need assistance with trades, as they are often more willing to help.

Warnings
- For older games, it will be very difficult to find a trading partner (as well as the necessary equipment). Ask a friend if they have the game and would be willing to trade with you. Thanks
