  1. Disable the UI animations. Animations can be satisfying, but they can also slow down performance, especially if your TV is older. To do this, go to the settings app by selecting the gear icon at top of screen, then go to Device PreferencesAboutAndroid TV OS build. Then, press the center of the D-pad on your remote seven times until developer prompt appears, then go back to previous page and go to Developer modeWindow animation scale and select Animation off. Repeat with Transition animation scale and Animator duration scale.[1]

Install a third-party launcher

  1. Install a third-party launcher. The default launcher on Android TVs have recommendations and advertisements, which can put more strain on hardware resources. Most third-party launchers don't have adverts and can be installed on the Play Store. Open the Play Store app and search "launcher", then select a launcher app you'd like to install and select Install. Once installed, select Open to open the third-party launcher.[1]
    • For some launchers, you'll need to go to the launcher's settings and enable accessibility service to set as default launcher. Alternatively, for other launchers, you can install a button mapper from Play Store and map the launcher app to home button.
