You probably know Sonny Angels as the small, cherubic, collectible figurines that started in Japan and then took off globally (largely thanks to the power of TikTok). If you don’t know what a Sonny Angel is, they’re basically cute, pocket-sized, baby-like figurines with a variety of novelty headwear modeled after different objects—including anything from a starfish to a radish to Mount Fuji. These collectors’ items (which are sold in blind mystery boxes) are also famous for having massive resale values, despite the originals being sold for a relatively cheap price.^{[1]

This Sonny Angel wears a bear head, party hat, and shorts with suspenders. The Happy Little Bear Sonny Angel is a secret figure that was released as part of the Afternoon Tea series. The bear is the first Sonny Angel to feature a “flocked” finish, which gives it the soft feel of fluffy fur. The figurine is wearing pink and orange striped shorts, pink suspenders, a yellow scalloped collar, a pale green bear cap, and a pink and yellow striped party hat. Robby Angel is the rarer and harder-to-find “friend” of Sonny Angel. Robby Angel is another character in the Sonny Angel universe, and he’s described by the company as a “good friend of Sonny Angel [who] can change his body color at any time, like a chameleon, and he likes to dress up.”^{[4]

For Sonny Angel’s 20th anniversary in 2025, the company released a limited-edition book that detailed every step of Sonny Angel’s 20-year journey. The visual guidebook includes pictures and descriptions of the 1,482 Sonny Angel products and mini-figures that have been designed and distributed. These wear animal hats with heart motifs and hold heart accessories. Each of the Sonny Angels in the Message of Love Series has a pastel-colored shirt and a matching hat that’s inspired by an animal. Every animal hat also ties in with the love theme—e.g., the “Mouse” hat has heart-shaped ears. However, the defining feature of these dolls is the 3D hearts they hold in their hands. These Sonny Angels each have a banana peel for a hat and collar. These unique, cutesy, and tropical-inspired figurines are rare items that collectors go totally bananas for. There are only three Sonny Angels in the series, and they all have the same basic design with different color schemes. The hat is the top part of a banana, while the bottom (peeled) section of the banana flares out at the collar. The dolls also have monkey ears and white, banana-flesh smocks over their bodies.^{[10]
