Tired of having to enter your username and password every time you use Facebook on your computer? If you're being logged out, the easiest way to stay signed in is to tell Facebook to remember your login. If that doesn't work, there could be a problem with your saved cache and cookies. If you're still having trouble staying logged in or keep being prompted to enter your password, you can also save your password in Edge or Chrome and log in to Facebook automatically.
Keep Your Facebook Account Logged In: Quick Steps
- Click your profile picture and go to Settings & privacy > Settings.
- Click Accounts Center.
- Click Password and security.
- Click Saved login.
- Click Save your login info.
Steps
Tell Facebook to "Remember" You
-
Click your profile picture at the top-right corner of Facebook. If you don't want to have to enter your password every time you open Facebook, you can tell Facebook to "remember" your login information.
- Once you click your picture, a menu will expand.
- If you're not already logged in to Facebook, you will need to log in first.
-
Click Settings & privacy. You'll see this on the menu.Advertisement
-
Click Settings. This opens your Facebook settings.
-
Click Accounts Center. It's near the top of the left panel.
-
Click Password and security. This option is in the left panel.
-
Click Saved login. This is in the right panel on the page.
-
Click Save your login info. Now, if you're ever signed out of Facebook, you can sign right back in by clicking your picture instead of entering your login information.
- When you click the option, the text will change to "Remove saved login info."
- You can undo this change at any time by clicking Remove saved login info.[1]
- If you're still getting logged out of Facebook, jump to Clear Your Cache & Cookies.
Save Your Login Info in Edge
-
Click the three-dot menu in Edge ••• . It's at the top-right corner of the browser. If you use Microsoft Edge to log in to Facebook, you can make Edge remember your username and password so you don't have to retype them to log in. Edge can also fill your username and password info to sign you in automatically.
-
Click Passwords on the menu. This opens your Microsoft Edge password settings.[4]
-
Turn on password saving and automatic sign-ins.
- If "Ask to save passwords and passkeys" isn't turned on, click the switch to turn it on now.
- Click More Settings beneath this option to expand more.
- Toggle on "Fill website password and sign in automatically, or suggest available passkeys." This feature lets you log in to websites automatically.
-
Log in to Facebook and choose the option to save your password. Once you log in, Edge will ask you if you want to save your password. Allow Chrome to do so, and you'll also be asked if you want to sign in automatically. Choose the option to do so, and you'll stay logged in to Facebook.
- If you are somehow signed out anyway, you still won’t have to enter your username and password to sign back in—just click your profile photo on the sign-in screen, then click Log in.
Save Your Login Info in Chrome
-
Click the three-dot menu in Chrome ⋮. If you use Google Chrome to log in to Facebook, you can tell Chrome to save your password so you don't have to enter it manually. Chrome will also log you in to Facebook automatically, so you'll always be logged in.
-
Click the Passwords and autofill menu. Another menu will expand.[5]
-
Click Google Password Manager. This opens Google's built-in password manager.
-
Click Settings in the left panel. Now you'll see your preferences for Google's password manager.
-
Enable password-saving and automatic sign-ins. Toggle on the switch next to "Offer to save passwords and passkeys" if it's turned off. Then, also toggle on "Sign in automatically."[6]
-
Make sure you haven't declined to save passwords for Facebook. Scroll down to the bottom of the page to find a list of sites you've told Chrome not to save passwords for. If you see Facebook in the list, click the X beside it to remove it.
-
Log in to Facebook and choose the option to save your password. Once you log in, Chrome will ask you if you want to save your password.
