Decorate your table to look like a football field.

  1. All you have to do is cover your table with green felt. Next, take white duct tape and stick it onto the felt horizontally to create yard lines. Lastly, place number stickers on each yard line and voila! You have an epic party table that everyone will love.[1] You can set up all your appetizers and snacks on the table for a photo-worthy spread, or simply have your guests eat and hang out at the table!
    • You can find green felt, white duct tape, and number stickers at your local craft or dollar store.
    • If you’re not a super crafty person, try ordering a football field tablecloth online, instead!

Serve some game-day staples.

PDF download Download Article
  1. Braff says food is one of the most important parts of a game-day party, so she recommends polling your guests ahead of time to see what their tastes are and what kind of dishes they’re expecting at a Super Bowl gathering.[3]
    • Braff explains that you don’t need to stick to traditional dishes for everything you serve, since you don’t want your spread to look like every other party’s. “But sometimes, people want to see some classics there, like Buffalo wings and things like that,” she says. “People love wings, people love nachos. People love good beer.”[4]
    • So, to keep your guests happy, make sure you’ve included at least a few tried-and-true classics, like Buffalo wings, Buffalo chicken dip, nachos, pigs in a blanket, jalapeño poppers, spinach and artichoke dip, chili, or potato skins.

Use banners and balloons to deck out the space in team colors.

PDF download Download Article
  1. Tape banners, balloons, and streamers to your walls or hang them from the ceiling. You can go to your local party store for football-themed party supplies, or you can make them yourself. Here are some fun ways you can decorate your space:
    • Hang a banner above your food table.
    • Create a balloon arch for your doorway or around your TV.
    • Drape streamers over your front door or in an archway.
    • What colors should you use for a 2026 Super Bowl party? The two teams playing in the 2026 Super Bowl are the New England Patriots (whose colors are blue, red, silver, and white) and the Seattle Seahawks (whose colors are navy, green, and white).

Create some football-themed centerpieces.

PDF download Download Article
  1. To make them, cut some thin pieces of white duct tape and stick them on to look like a football’s laces on the outside of each mason jar. Next, cut pieces of brown construction paper or cardstock so that they’re the right height and length to fit into your jar when rolled up. Place the brown rolled-up paper into each mason jar, so they look like footballs with laces.[10]
    • Finish off your mason jar centerpieces with decorative items of your choice. You can include flags representing each of the teams, flowers in the team colors, and any other football-related props you’d like!

Display straws and utensils in themed jars.

PDF download Download Article
  1. This is a great way to make your party feel super on-theme, down to the small details. Making them is super easy—just buy a few pint-sized mason jars and paint them with the football-inspired designs of your choice! Do vertical black and white stripes for a referee-inspired jar, paint another jar brown and add white football laces, and decorate other jars with the colors of the team you’re rooting for.[11]
    • Once they’re dry, fill the jars with things your guests might need throughout the party, like plastic cutlery, straws for drinks, and napkins.
22

Play a game of football toss.

PDF download Download Article
  1. Bend 3 of the noodles to turn them into rings, duct taping them to keep their shape. Tape each of these rings together so you have 3 rings lined up next to each other. Next, shove 2 pieces of rebar or stakes into the ground. Slide a noodle over the rebar and tape the 3 rings to it. The rings should be attached to and between the rebar. All that’s left to do is toss a football through the rings and see who has the best aim.[13]
    • In the end, your DIY game should look like 3 floating rings between the upper part of a goal post.
    • Set the game as far back as you please! If you have younger party guests, maybe only set it 1 foot (0.30 m) away from the throwing line. For older guests, try 5 to 10 feet (1.5 to 3.0 m).
23

Place bets with Super Bowl squares.

PDF download Download Article
  1. Football squares is a simple game. There is a 10x10 grid, and each square costs $5. Each square is associated with a number from 0 to 9. Before the Super Bowl starts, everyone pays for the squares they want, writing their name in those squares. At the end of each quarter, the square that matches the last number of the team’s score wins that round and the money that went into it.[14]
    • For example, if the Rams have 41 points and the Bengals have 31, the names in each 1 square win.
    • Print out or create your own squares game. For ideas, try searching “super bowl squares game.”
    • Lower the stakes by swapping real money with Monopoly money.

Play commercial bingo.

PDF download Download Article
  1. The Super Bowl commercials are famous for being silly and over the top. Add some extra fun to these ad breaks by seeing if you can find all the details on your bingo card. Use pretzels or snack crackers as your bingo chips and see who reigns victorious at the end of the night.[15]
    • For example, say a Coca-Cola commercial comes on. If Coca-Cola is on your bingo card, you’ve won a square.
    • Maybe your bingo card has a square that says “celebrity.” You would mark that square if there’s a commercial that features a celebrity.
    • You can create the bingo cards yourself using free platforms like Canva or Word, or find pre-made cards online by searching “Super Bowl commercial bingo.”

Serve football-shaped mini sandwiches.

PDF download Download Article
  1. Buy mini sub sandwich buns at the grocery store, making sure they’re oval-shaped to resemble a football. Fill them with the sandwich fix-ins of your choice, then use a piping bag or zip-loc bag with one corner cut off to pipe thin lines of mayo or mustard onto the tops of the sandwiches to look like football laces.[16] Serve as an entree during the half-time performance!
    • If you can’t find mini sub sandwich buns, use a football-shaped cookie cutter to cut regular pieces of white or wheat sliced bread into football shapes.
    • Try making several different types of sandwiches (turkey, ham, BLT, veggie, etc) so that your guests can mix-and-match!

Make a football field-inspired dip.

PDF download Download Article
  1. Like a typical 7-layer dip, it packs several different homemade or store-bought dips into one serving dish, but with a twist: they’re packed in to look like a football field! This dish works great as an appetizer or as a mid-game snack when your guests start to get hungry again. Here’s how to make it:[17]
    • Spread store-bought or homemade refried bean dip in a layer across the whole bottom of a 13’’ by 9’’ baking dish.
    • Spread a layer of sour cream on top of the entire bean dip layer.
    • Spread a layer of store-bought or homemade pico de gallo starting at the left shorter end of the dish, but stop before reaching the other end. Leave about 2 inches of sour cream on the right end of the dish.
    • Spread a layer of store-bought or homemade queso dip starting on top of the sour cream at the shorter right end of the dish. Go over the pico de gallo layer across the middle of the dish, but stop before you reach the left edge, leaving about 2 inches of pico de gallo.
    • Spread store-bought or homemade guacamole between the strips of pico de gallo and queso on either side of your dish (these are your end zones). The guacamole in the middle is your field!
    • Put some sour cream in a piping bag fitted with a small tip (or a zip-loc bag with the tip cut off). Pipe white stripes across the guacamole “field” to create your yard lines.[18]
    • Serve with tortilla chips and enjoy!

Quiz your guests with Super Bowl trivia.

PDF download Download Article
  1. This is a great game to play, especially if you have some die-hard football fans attending. All you have to do is come up with some questions. These can be as easy, difficult, or silly as you’d like. Split your guests off into teams, and keep track of how many points each team gets right. Make sure you have a fun prize picked out for the winning team. Here are some questions you can add to your game:[22]
    • How many times has each team been to a Super Bowl?
    • Who are the quarterbacks for each team?
    • What are the teams’ mascots?
31

Set up a Super Bowl-themed photo booth.

PDF download Download Article
  1. Give your guests something to post about by setting up a makeshift photo booth in the corner of the room. Hang glitter streamers or a plastic tablecloth in the playing teams’ colors as a backdrop. Lay out fun glasses, hats, or printed-out football graphics so your guests can dress up for their photos. This is sure to bring a smile to everyone’s face and make lasting memories.
    • Set up a ring light or phone stand facing the decorated wall so your guests can take timed photos.
    • If you want to go all out, order a Super Bowl-inspired photo booth background and some themed props online!

Play Super Bowl-themed “Don’t Say It.”

PDF download Download Article
  1. To play, designate a few words as “off-limits” for the night, and choose words that your guests are likely to say accidentally (like “football,” “touchdown,” or the halftime performer’s name). The object of the game is to go the whole night without saying any of the words! Give each guest a whistle to blow if they hear another guest saying one of the words. The guest who slips up then needs to give their whistle to the person who caught them.[23]
    • At the end of the night, the guest who collects the most whistles wins!

Make football-inspired cupcakes.

PDF download Download Article
  1. To make them more on-theme for your Super Bowl gathering, decorate them with green frosting (to represent the football field) and stick football-shaped cupcake toppers into them.[28] Or, ice with brown chocolate frosting and pipe white lines in the shape of football laces on top. For a little variety, do a mix of both!
    • For something a little more unique, put your cupcakes in the shape of a football, then spread chocolate frosting across them all and pipe on white football laces for a pull-apart football cake.

What if intoxicated people get into a violent fight at the party?
    Community Answer
    Community Answer
If a aggressive fight is started and one or many of the people fighting are drunk, force them out of the house to avoid anyone else getting hurt or pulled into the fight. Only attempt to break up the fight if you know you can, don't risk yourself or others being injured. If necessary, call the police and have them taken away.
  • Question
What if I have to cancel the party?
    Community Answer
    Community Answer
If there's time, cancel the event via email. Last minute cancellations, however, should be done by phone. This guarantees all guests will receive the update and won't show up.
  • Question
What if I want to host a Super Bowl party in my bedroom?
    Community Answer
    Community Answer
It depends on how large your room is. I would suggest just inviting 2-3 people if your room is on the smaller side. Make sure you have some snacks, drinks, and a decent sized TV and you should be good to go.

Tips

  • Make water bottle labels so your guests won’t lose track of their drinks. Print out a long, narrow image of a football or black and white vertical stripes. Cut out the image, wrap it around the water bottle’s label, and tape it in place. Leave out a permanent marker by the drink station so guests can write their name on the fun labels.[32]
  • Ask your guests ahead of time if they have any dietary restrictions. Finding recipes that cater to all needs will help everyone feel included in the festivities.
  • Call a cab or offer guests to spend the night if they’ve been drinking. The last thing you want is for someone to get into an accident, so be safe and turn your Super Bowl party into a sleepover.

To throw a fun Super Bowl party, put out some Super Bowl-themed décor. For example, decorate a green felt tablecloth to look like a football field, hang up pennants for your favorite team, or cut out squares of AstroTurf to use as coasters. Serve snacks and drinks that show your football fan spirit, like football-shaped cheese balls or cocktails that are popular in your team’s hometown. When you’re not busy watching the game, do some fun activities with your guests. For instance, you could do face painting with your team’s colors, play football trivia, or have a game of Super Bowl commercial bingo. You can even make party favor bags so your friends can take home a few special memories from the party. Include things like toy footballs, plastic whistles, and lanyards with your team’s colors.
