Stickers are still or animated images you can send through Facebook Messenger. You can use Facebook's default stickers or download more from the sticker store. Here's how to use stickers on Facebook Messenger using your computer, iPhone, iPad, or Android.

Sending Stickers in Messenger

To send a sticker, open a chat and click or tap the "Stickers" icon, which looks like a smiley on a piece of paper. Tap a sticker to send it instantly.
To add stickers, click + (desktop) or Visit sticker store (mobile). Select a sticker pack to preview it.
Click + (desktop) or Download free pack (mobile) to add new stickers to your library.

Open the Messenger app. This is the multi-colored chat bubble icon with a white lightning bolt inside.
- If you're not signed in, follow the on-screen instructions to sign in now.
- Facebook Messenger is available for iOS in the App Store and for Android in the Google Play Store.

Tap a chat to open it. You'll see a list of all open chats with a friend or group of friends.^{[1]

- To start a new chat, click the square and pencil icon and enter a recipient.
- If you aren't on the Chats page, tap Chats at the bottom-left corner.

Tap the Sticker & GIF icon. This looks like a smiley face. You can find this on the right side of the text field.^{[2]

- If you don't see this option, tap the 4-dots icon (Android) or + icon (iOS) first.
- A new menu will open.
This looks like a smiley face within a square with the bottom-right corner tucked in. You can find this above the search bar, between an icon of a face (which is the option to create an avatar, similar to a Memoji or Bitmoji) and the GIF icon.

Find a sticker. Use the search bar to enter keywords for stickers, or scroll down to view stickers in your Messenger library.
- To add more stickers, do the following:
  - Scroll down on the main Sticker tab and tap Visit sticker store.
  - Tap the Featured or All tab.
  - Tap a sticker pack to view its contents.
  - Tap Download free pack.
- You can also use an AI-generated sticker, which Facebook will make according to what you searched. These stickers will be listed at the top of the list.

Tap a sticker. This will send the sticker to the recipient.
- If you sent the wrong sticker, tap and hold the sticker. Tap Unsend, and then tap Unsend for everyone to delete it.

Go to Messenger in a web browser. You can do this by going to messenger.com. If you aren't already logged in, enter your Facebook login ID and password to do so now.^{[3]

Find a sticker. Use the search bar to find a specific theme, or click the suggested themes in the first tab.
- You can also view all available stickers within the categories at the top. Click the right arrow to view more categories.

Click a sticker. This will send the sticker to the recipient.
- If you sent the wrong sticker, hover the cursor over the sticker and click ⋮. Click Remove and select Unsend for everyone. Click Remove.
  - Keep in mind that this sticker may still show up if someone exports the messages.

Add more stickers (optional). If you want more stickers, you can add more from the Sticker Store. Do the following:
- Click the Sticker icon.
- Click + at the top-right corner.
- View a sticker pack by clicking the eye icon.
- Click + within the sticker pack to add it to Messenger.

Can I use Memoji or custom stickers in Messenger? Yes, you can use custom stickers in Messenger as long as your phone supports it.
- iPhone:
  - Open your iPhone settings.
  - Search for "keyboard" in the search bar. You may need to pull the settings menu down to expose the keyboard.
  - Tap on "Keyboards."
  - Scroll to the bottom of the menu and enable Stickers under the "Emoji" heading. This will allow you to send stickers using the emoji keyboard.^{[6]

  - Open Messenger and go to a chat where you want to send a sticker.
  - Tap the emoji keyboard (the smiley face in the lower-left corner).
  - Scroll to the left and tap on a Memoji or sticker to send it.
- Android: Android devices should have the ability to send stickers from the emoji keyboard enabled automatically. If your phone doesn't, try opening your phone's keyboard settings, or go to the settings for the specific keyboard app that you use.

How do AI-generated stickers work? To make an AI-generated sticker, type a prompt into the sticker menu search bar in Messenger, then tap on a sticker you like under the "AI stickers" header. If you don't like any of the options, tap Try again to generate a new set of stickers.
- AI-generated stickers are only available in the Messenger mobile app.
- AI stickers are subject to Facebook's Community Standards and Terms of Service.
- Meta (the company that owns Facebook) may use your location and profile information when you interact with AI on the platform.^{[7]
