What makes a name non-binary?

PDF download Download Article
  1. Any name can be non-binary! In general, popular nonbinary names are not traditionally masculine or feminine; they’re more gender-neutral. However, some non-binary people use traditionally gendered names to intentionally blur the lines of gender. Therefore, if you’re non-binary, any name can be non-binary.
    • Often, non-binary people choose names that are inspired by nature, concepts, or objects, but this isn’t always the case.
    • It’s become a stereotype that all non-binary people have “weird” names, but there’s nothing wrong with choosing a name that you like, whether it’s a traditional name or not.
    • Remember, you don’t have to change your name if you don’t want to! Many non-binary people keep their birth names, and that’s totally okay.
