Paraffin is actually used in chocolate to make chocolate dips and coating. But for those who don't want wax in the chocolate, you do have an alternative!
Ingredients
- 12 oz bittersweet chocolate chips
- Approx 1/4 cup canola oil, melted slowly, stirred carefully over hot (not boiling) water.
Steps
-
If you have a double boiler, use it to melt the chocolate and the oil together.
-
Put oil and chocolate chips in top of double boiler together. The object is to melt all the chocolate at the same time, slowly, with little disturbance until melted, then gentle but constant stirring until well blended and semi liquid.Advertisement
-
Alternatively, heat water to boiling in a saucepan.
-
Turn off the heat and insert bowl with chocolate bits into the saucepan.
-
Stir carefully over the hot water being sure that the oil is mixed in very thoroughly.
-
Cool gradually for some minutes, stirring slowly.
-
Dip candy or cookies, allow to set and dry in a cool room for a few hours.
