Are you trying to play Fortnite on a Mac? While it's possible through the Epic Games Launcher, the gameplay will be severely limited as you won't be able to update your game past version 13.40. However, you can also use Xbox Cloud Gaming to play the latest version of Fortnite in your browser. This wikiHow will show you how to install and play Fortnite on your Mac or MacBook running macOS Mojave or newer.

Things You Should Know

Fortnite is available to download on Mac with the Epic Games Launcher, but you can only play the older version 13.40.
Download the Epic Games Launcher from the official website, and then use the launcher to download Fortnite.
To play the latest version of Fortnite, use Xbox Cloud Gaming on your Mac's web browser.

Download the Epic Games Launcher. You must have Mac Mojave 10.14.6 or later to run Fortnite on your computer.^{[1]

- You can download the launcher on the Epic Games' website.
- If you want to play Fortnite on a Mac through Epic Games Launcher, you won't be able to play across platforms, access the Item Shop, or purchase V-Bucks. You'll only be able to play up to v13.40.

Open the Epic Games Launcher. This looks like the Epic Games logo with a black background. When the launcher opens, you'll be asked to sign into your Epic Games account.
- If you don't already have an account, you'll need to create one.

Use the search bar at the top to enter "Fortnite" and select the first option.

Click Download. The download speed will depend on your device, internet, and connection.
- When it's finished, you'll see the Download button turn into In Library.

Click Fortnite. This will be in the left panel, underneath the Quick Launch header.
- Fortnite will open. You can now play Fortnite on your Mac.

Go to Fortnite's page on Xbox Cloud Gaming. While the Xbox Game Pass Ultimate is a paid subscription that allows you to access games via a cloud service, there's an exception for free-to-play games such as Fortnite.
