What This Tick Identification Chart Shows

Our tick identification chart shows the following ticks:

  • Deer Tick: This tick is exceptionally small with a uniform brownish-red body. It is most famous for being a primary carrier of Lyme disease.
  • Lone Star Tick: This reddish-brown tick is easily recognized by the single, prominent white spot located right in the center of its back.
  • Blacklegged Tick: You can spot this one by its distinct dark legs, solid black upper shield, and a contrasting bright red abdomen.
  • Dog Tick: Notably larger than the others, this dark brown tick is distinguished by a lighter, patterned shield right behind its head.
