Tons of people on TikTok say they can see what names people have them saved as in their contacts. If you've seen these TikToks and are curious about how your name appears in your friend's, significant other's, or crush's phone, you've come to the right place! In this article, we'll dig into all the tricks people use to check the names they're given in other people's contacts to find out if any of them really work.

Although plenty of TikTokers claim they found a way to see how people have them saved in their phone contacts, there's no real way to do this. Some apps, like Getcontact and Me Caller ID, will tell you the name people saved you as if you pay, but only if the other person uses the app too.

Even though this app is trending on TikTok, you can't use it to find out what name people have you saved as in their phone contacts. First, to use the app, you'll have to pay for a subscription ($7.99/month), and so will the person you're trying to find out about. If you both pay for Getcontact and the person you're looking up has "tagged" you with a name in the Getcontact app, you can see that name. But no, you cannot use Getcontact to see what someone has you saved as in their Android or iPhone contacts.^{[1]

Some TikTok users say you can find out the name people have you saved as by sharing their video to WhatsApp and selecting "Contacts." Like the other supposed tricks, you can't see your contact name on WhatsApp by sharing a TikTok video. This will only show you the names you have saved those people as, and not vice versa. If this worked in the past, it definitely doesn't work now.

Ask someone to send your contact card on WhatsApp. If you both use WhatsApp, you may be able to convince someone to share your contact card in the app. The contact card uses the name they saved you as, so if they do it quickly, they might not look at the preview before sending. This may work better if you ask them to send your contact card to a mutual friend, like, "Hey, my friend is having trouble contacting me, can you send them my contact card?" and then ask that mutual friend to share a screenshot of the card with you. To use this trick, tell the person you're wondering about to do these steps:^{[4]

- On Android, tap the paperclip at the bottom of the chat. On iPhone, tap the +.
- Tap Contact.
- Select your name as the contact and tap Next.
- Tap Send.
When you're chatting with someone in your texts, the name they have you saved as appears at the top of the conversation. You could say something like, "Are you getting my texts? I think some aren't going through," and then ask them to take a screenshot of the conversation so you can see what they're missing. If they do it quickly without giving it much thought, they might leave the name you're saved as at the top of the chat!

The next time you're hanging out with the person you're wondering about and their phone's screen is visible, call or text them. When the notification comes through, their phone will light up, and you'll see the name they gave you.
