  3. You can find this at the top-right corner. This will open an event creation menu.[3]
  4. Tap the Event name text field at the top of the screen, then type in the title that you want to use.
  5. Tap the time at the top or change it, then select a date. Tap OK to confirm.
    • By default, there’s only a start date and time. Use the buttons under the start date and time field to add an end time, create a repeating event, or change the time zone.
  6. For example, if you’re making an in-person event, tap the Is it in person or virtual? field and choose In Person.[4] Enter a location or select one from the list of suggestions. You can also choose to make your event virtual if you plan to host on Facebook Live, Zoom, or another virtual platform.
    • If the event is in person, enter a location in the field and tap to select it.
    • If the event is virtual, select Facebook Live, External Link, or Other. Be sure to attach the respective platforms or links so your guests know where to go.
  7. You can use a GIF, a photo from Facebook's gallery, or upload your own photo. These options are at the top of the event creation page, over the default event image.
    • Tap Pick a GIF to search Tenor and select a GIF.
    • Tap Gallery to search Facebook's image gallery. Tap an image to select it.
    • Tap Upload to select a photo from your camera roll.
  8. Tap Who can see it? to make the event Private, Public, or for members of a specific group. Make your selection, then tap Done.
    • Private: Makes a Facebook-only event that only invited people can access. If you select this option, toggle on or off "Guests can invite friends".
    • Public: Makes a public event that anyone can access, including people who don't have Facebook accounts.
    • Group: Makes an event that only members of a specific group you’re in can access.
  9. Tap What are the details? to type in any additional information that will help inform people who are coming to your event. This is a good place to add things like house rules, expectations, and an itinerary.
    • Depending on your selections, you may see Additional settings. Tap this to edit the extra settings for your selections.
  10. At the bottom of the menu, you’ll see a few other options, which may vary depending on your main event settings and your account type. This may include options like:
    • Market your event: Allows you to advertise your event more widely on Facebook.
    • Add co-hosts: Choose an additional host (or hosts) for your event. Your co-host(s) can also edit the event page or invite guests.
    • Add an event chat: Creates a group chat in Messenger for event members.
    • Add tickets: Allows you to add a link to a ticketing website for paid events.
  11. This is a blue button at the bottom of the screen. Doing so will publish your event![5]
    • To edit your event, return to Menu > Events and select your event at the top (under Your plans). Tap Manage > Edit to make changes or delete the event.
    • You can even add a host to share the event-management with a friend.

  • Question
Can I create an event now if it's in November?
    Community Answer
    Community Answer
You don't want to publicize your event too far in advance or else people may forget about it. On the other hand, you want to give people enough lead time that hopefully there won't be scheduling conflicts. I'd shoot for 4-6 weeks advance notice.
