This stems from times gone by when food such as fish was used as a bartering tool, so it has the connotation of resources.” He also says that you can interpret the sign differently based on exactly where it’s located on the hand.

   • The fish sign is generally associated with having heightened emotional intelligence and intuition. People with this sign may also be especially creative, spiritual, compassionate, and/or perceptive.
   • The fish sign is also associated with travel, especially to foreign countries.

   Look for an almond or eye shape with a forked tail. A fish sign is often made of two curved, intersecting lines that overlap with a tail. This often creates an oval shape, like a fish. The body of the fish sign can also be a triangle or a diamond shape—but it must have the tail.

   • Fish signs are often found on the mounts of the palm—the fleshy areas below your fingers or the heel of your hand. They can also be found on your palm lines.
   • You can have more than one fish sign on your hand.

Turner says that there are various ways you can interpret the fish symbol in palm reading. “You have to use your intuition to discern the meaning,” he says, before adding that the location of the fish can also impact its interpretation.

   • Mount of Jupiter (below index finger): Fame and financial success, relaxed mindset, good self-awareness, leadership, power, respect, spirituality
   • Mount of Saturn (below middle finger): Long-term success, good judgment, organization, discipline
   • Mount of Apollo (below ring finger): Success in creative endeavors, travel
   • Mount of Mercury (below pinky finger): Business success, good communicator
   • Mount of Mars (between head and heart lines): Exceptionally strategic and sensible
   • Mount of Moon (base of palm opposite thumb): “This may be a sign of travelling the world, as the Moon rules the Oceans, where fish reside.” It can also indicate creative success or psychic sensitivity.
   • Mount of Venus (heel of palm below thumb): Success in love
   • Around the fate line: “This would be a positive sign for personal finances and career success,” says Turner.

   Note whether the head of the fish points up or down. The fish sign is considered most fortunate if the head is pointing upward, toward your fingers. If it’s pointing downward, toward your wrist, it can sometimes mean that success will come later in life.

   • Some people believe a downward-pointing fish indicates that a loss will occur in the area signified by the fish’s location (e.g., lost love if you have a downward-facing fish at the Mount of Venus), but this is a less common interpretation.

This can mean you’re more inclined than others to find success. It doesn’t mean that you’re pre-destined to be successful, but it is considered a very auspicious sign.

   • If you don’t have a fish sign, don’t worry—it doesn’t necessarily indicate a lack of success.
   • Turner says it’s important not to put too much significance on any one sign on your hand. Instead, look at all of the signs on your palm together and think about the story they tell as a whole.
   • “Palmistry is a system of reoccuring signs and conditions of the hands. Like in any kind of Divination or Fortune-Telling, you have to keep your mind open in a psychic way,” says Turner. He adds, “I once read a young lady’s hand and she had the Fish symbol. I got the feeling she had a pet gold fish that passed away, and incredible she did have one that died years before I met her—it lived for nearly two decades!”
   • In general, most people don’t consider palmistry a reliable indication of someone’s future. These readings are mostly just for fun!
