Cloud is one of the more famous Final Fantasy protagonists—the main character in FFVII. He and his Buster Sword make quite an impression, and his determination to find out who he is (and, later, become a better version of himself) are more than enough to make fans swoon at the sight of him…even if his hair does seem to defy gravity a bit!
Anyone who loves a charming rogue will definitely grow a soft spot for Ezio of Assassin’s Creed fame. From the moment Larian Studios unveiled its main BG3 characters, it was clear Astarion was going to get a lot of attention. And it’s well-deserved; he’s an amazingly well-written character with serious development in the game (well, as long as you make the choices that help him undergo said development). Regardless, he’s got great hair, beautiful features, and a backstory that’d make anyone want the best for him!
Link’s “hotness” breaks stereotypes; he has soft, delicate features and a thinner frame, making him very different from the long line of buff protagonists that also made this list. But that’s one reason why fans love him; he’s a more androgynous character who, nonetheless, is also the “action hero”—the brave knight in shining armor (metaphorically, at least) who protects Zelda time and time again.
Between Dante and Geralt, it’s safe to say that silver-haired monster hunters have undeniable allure. Dante is a demon hunter from Devil May Cry; he’s intense, confident, and coolly charming—not to mention really skilled with an arsenal of weapons and guns. Between all that, plus his signature “tough guy in a trench coat” look, it’s easy to see why he’s considered dreamy.
John Marston’s “cowboy” aura is captivating enough on its own to earn him a spot on this list. He’s rugged, handsome, and has a ton of swagger! Yet beyond all that, his main goal is always protecting his wife and son, which makes him an even more admirable (and lovable) figure.
Bigby Wolf is essentially the human version of the Big Bad Wolf (yes, that Big Bad Wolf). But he’s trying to be more than a bloodthirsty monster, and in The Wolf Among Us, that manifests in the way he works to earn his community’s trust—while protecting Fabletown from crime. He’s still cynical, and a bit of an antihero, but he’s striving for redemption at the end of the day.
Sephiroth might be FFVII’s antagonist, but being a bad guy definitely hasn’t stopped people from loving him! He has the mysterious, brooding vibes, the dangerous, piercing eyes, and god-like power at his fingertips; it’s safe to say that plenty of FF fans find him dreamy, even if they aren’t exactly rooting for him to win in the end.
Dorian’s unapologetic confidence and flair are hard to resist, and as his story unfolds, he’s the perfect balance between cocky and vulnerable. It’s clear that he loves his homeland and wants to help his people—but at the same time, he’s also figuring out how to be himself. And yes, it doesn’t hurt that he’s dashing (and he knows it)!^{[12]

Like Leon (and Jill Valentine), Chris Redfield has been around for a long time—he was a protagonist in the first RE, and has appeared in numerous titles since. Because of that, we’ve been able to see his evolution throughout the series, from S.T.A.R.S. officer to founding member of the BSAA. Ever a driven and righteous presence in the dark world of Resident Evil, fans adore his action-hero vibe!
Some call Sargon a harbinger of doom, but he doesn’t let that label define him; he’s devoted, passionate, and honorable, much more preoccupied with helping his people than declaring sovereignty over them. That makes him a pretty stand-up guy! In fact, his inner fire and drive are probably just as captivating as his looks.
Everybody loves a rebel, right? Well, Zagreus is as rebellious as they come; he’s defiant and driven, yet also really sociable, caring, and charming! And despite being a prince of the Underworld, he doesn’t have a big ego about it. He’s actually pretty self-deprecating, and has a great sense of humor. All that to say, there’s a lot to admire about Zagreus, even without taking his cool character design into account.
Squall Leonhart is another much-loved Final Fantasy protagonist, and he does a lot of growing up in FFVIII. Going from elite military student to Commander, Squall is guarded and thoughtful—and definitely a reluctant leader at first. But as he learns to let others in, he becomes a more caring and protective person.
One of Overwatch’s most eligible bachelors is Hanzo, a mysterious archer on a mission for redemption. Formerly a member of the Shimada Clan, Hanzo was forced to confront and nearly kill his brother, Genji; after that, he swore never to use a sword again, and later returned to Tokyo to seek redemption. His convictions and discipline are what make him such a compelling character!
As his moniker suggests, Sub-Zero is the kind of guy who keeps a cool head no matter the situation. He’s enigmatic and serious, but a good person at heart (or, at least, the second iteration of Sub-Zero is). Kuai Liang is the second Sub-Zero, having inherited the title from his brother—who was a much more ruthless warrior. Nonetheless, it’s easy to love these strong, disciplined warrior-types!
Wyll is another party member and playable character from BG3…and unlike Astarion, he doesn’t spend half the game pursuing ulterior motives! He’s more or less the most pure-hearted warlock you could imagine, and everything he does is for the good of others—even if that means bringing harm to himself. He’s kind, selfless, and easy on the eyes; nobody’s perfect, but he comes pretty close.
Jin Kazama is an alluring protagonist from the Tekken series. He’s a prodigious martial artist with a cursed bloodline, his main goal being to end the Mishima Bloodline and save the world from its evil. And because of the burden he bears, he has a stoic, serious personality with a lot of deep-rooted bitterness. He’s determined, unyielding…and, yes, fans find him attractive because of it!
All of Detroit: Become Human’s playable characters are lovable in their own ways, but Connor especially so. An android tasked with, essentially, preventing his own people from gaining sentience and freedom, Connor manages to fight back against his own programming and discover his humanity. He’s also just cute as a button!
We have yet another charming rogue in Tekken’s Miguel Caballero Rojo! He’s a fiery martial artist who moves with a captivating intensity on the battlefield, so it’s really no wonder he’s considered one of the hottest gaming characters around. He’s hot-tempered and aggressive…and he has unfinished business with another character on this list, Jin Kazama.
There are two very different versions of Kratos on display in the God of War series; there’s the aggressive, angry Kratos of the early games, and the calmer, more compassionate Kratos who grows in his place later. Kratos’s capacity for growth is definitely one of his best traits—not to mention his determination, drive, and powerful, attention-grabbing aura!
As an alien, Garrus might not fit everyone’s definition of conventionally attractive—but anyone who’s played Mass Effect can agree that he’s one of the best characters in the series, hands-down. He might not have made it through more than one season of The Walking Dead Game, but he’s still alive in our hearts! Lee Everett is the protagonist in TWDG’s first season, a convict who escapes right as the zombie apocalypse begins—but he’s no bad guy.
