The Nether is one of the three dimensions in Minecraft, and just like the Overworld, it has its own set of mobs you can find. There are currently 14 mobs you can encounter in the Nether, and most of them are hostile, though some are neutral and one is even passive. Blaze Rods can also fuel a furnace for 120 seconds (or 12 items).[2]

Chicken Jockey

PDF download Download Article
  1. In the Nether, Chicken Jockeys are chickens that are being ridden by baby zombified piglins. In Java Edition, they can spawn anywhere that zombified piglins can spawn. No chickens naturally spawn in the Nether, but there's a 4.75% chance that a baby zombified piglin will spawn in directly as a chicken jockey (which means that any zombified piglin has a 0.23% chance to spawn in as a baby zombified piglin riding a chicken). If the zombified piglin despawns, the chicken will be left behind.[3]
    • Behavior: Neutral
    • Spawn: Anywhere baby zombified piglins can spawn
    • Health points: 20 (10 hearts)

You can also use ender pearls to craft the Eye of Ender.[5]

In Bedrock Edition, they always spawn individually.[6] Ghasts drop Ghast Tears, which can be used to brew potions, create a dried Ghast, and craft an End Crystal.[7] Dried Ghasts can be used to create a Happy Ghast, the passive version of this mob that can be ridden.[8]

PDF download Download Article

You can also find them in Bastion Remnants, mostly in the hoglin stable. When killed, they'll drop porkchops and leather. If you kill one with fire or with a weapon enchanted with Fire Aspect, the dropped porkchop will be cooked; otherwise, the porkchop will be raw.[9] Up to three baby piglins can ride a baby hoglin, creating a hoglin jockey. A hoglin jockey does the same amount of damage as a baby hoglin without a rider.[10]

Baby piglins are passive and will take gold without giving anything in return. You'll find them in groups of 4 in the Nether Wastes and 3 to 4 in the Crimson Forest. 1. In the Nether, skeletons will spawn in groups of 4 (JE) or 1 to 2 (BE). They'll only spawn at light level 7 or below. Skeletons will drop bones and arrows upon death, which makes them a great mob to farm for useful materials.[15]

Strider

PDF download Download Article
  1. Striders are the only passive mob in the Nether, and they can spawn in every biome. They will spawn in groups of 2 to 4. There is also a chance the strider will spawn with a baby strider on its back; the baby will not dismount even after it has grown up. If you try to hurt a strider, it will run away instead of fighting back. Striders drop string when killed, but their best use is to ride it across lava (while directing it with a warped fungus on a stick).[16]
    • Behavior: Passive
    • Spawn: All Nether biomes
    • Health points: 20 (10 hearts)
    • Mob type: Animal

Section 11 of 14:

Strider Jockey

PDF download Download Article
  1. There is a 1/30 chance that a strider will spawn being ridden by a zombified piglin. The strider jockey won't attack the player unless you attack the rider or any other nearby zombified piglins. If you kill the rider, the strider will turn passive. You can't tempt a strider jockey with a warped fungus or warped fungus on a stick, but you can put a leash on it.[17]
    • Behavior: Neutral
    • Spawn: Anywhere striders can spawn
    • Health points: 20 (10 hearts)
    • Can be leashed: Yes

They usually ignore the player, but if you attack a zombified piglin and it survives, it and all the surrounding zombified piglins will attack you.
