If you're having trouble using your Xfinity or Comcast remote control with your TV, or if you need to pair your remote with a different device, you can factory reset the remote. The steps to reset your remote control are different on each model, but the process is easy regardless. Read on to learn how to reset any Xfinity remote control, including voice and non-voice models, in a few easy steps.

Quick Reset Steps for Common Xfinity Remotes

XR16 Voice Remote: Press and hold i and Home for 5 seconds, then release when the LED blinks. Press Power, Last, then Volume Down to reset.
XR15 Voice Remote: Press and hold A and D, then release when the light turns green. Enter 9, 8, then 1 to reset.
XR11 Voice Remote: Press and hold the Setup button until the light turns green. Enter 9, 8, then 1 to reset.
Non-voice remotes: Press and hold the Setup button until the light turns green. Enter 9, 8, then 6 to reset.

XR16 Voice Remote (No Setup or Number Buttons)

Press and hold the i and Home buttons at the same time. Continue holding the buttons down for 5 seconds.^{[1]

- The "i", which is the Info button, is on the right side of the remote below an asterisk.
- The Home button has an icon of a house, and it's next to the microphone button near the middle of the remote.
After 5 seconds or so, the light at the top of the remote between the Power and TV Input buttons will blink. Release the buttons when it does.

It's in the top right corner of your remote.
The Last button looks like an arrow pointing backward that is to the left of the microphone button.
You'll see this button near the top-left of your remote, and below a + icon. Once you've pressed this sequence of buttons, you'll complete the reset process. You can now program and pair your remote.^{[2]

Press and hold the A and D buttons at the same time. Continue holding down these buttons until the light at the top of the remote turns green.^{[3]

- The A button looks like a triangle.
- The D button looks like a diamond.
You'll see the status LED near the top of the remote.
Your remote control is now reset.

XR11 Voice Remote (With Setup Button)

Continue pressing and holding the button until the light changes from red to green. The status light is at the very top of the remote, and the Setup button is at the very bottom, to the left.
The status LED will blink green two times to indicate the remote is successfully reset.

XR2, XR5, and XR11 Remotes (With Setup Button)

If you're using an XR2, XR5, or XR11 Xfinity or Comcast non-voice remote (look at the back of your remote to check), you'll see a Setup button in the bottom-left corner of the number pad. Press and hold the Setup button until the light at the top turns from red to green.^{[4]

Enter 9+8+1. Once you enter the final number in the sequence, your XRA large button voice remote will be reset.
