Are you wondering how to turn off your AirPods Max? There is actually no way to fully turn off your AirPods Max, as there is no power button on them. However, you can put your AirPods Max in a lower power mode to help preserve battery life. This is most easily achieved with the Smart Case, but you can put your AirPods Max in low power mode even without the case.

Things You Should Know

Place your AirPods Max in the Smart Case to immediately put it into low power mode.
After 18 hours in the case, your AirPods Max will go into ultralow power mode to save battery charge.
If you don't have your Smart Case, your AirPods Max will go into low power mode once they've sat undisturbed for at least 5 minutes.

Place your AirPods Max in the Smart Case. The Smart Case is designed to help preserve your AirPods Max battery life by placing it in low power mode (then ultra low power mode).^{[1]

- Once you place your AirPods Max in the Smart Case, they will immediately go into low power mode.

Set your AirPods Max down in a spot where they won't be disturbed. If you don't have your Smart Case, you can still put your AirPods Max into low power mode by setting them down and letting them stay still.
- After 5 minutes of being stationary, your AirPods Max will go into low power mode.
- After 72 hours of being outside of the case and stationary, your AirPods Max will turn off Bluetooth and Find My to preserve battery life, but this is not the same ultra low power mode that the Smart Case places your AirPods Max in.
