• Reality Warping (To Be Hero X): The ability to disobey the laws of physics and completely rewrite the world to your liking.
• All Fiction (Medaka Box): The ability to erase literally anything, including natural laws and the fabric of reality.
• The Death Note (Death Note): A notebook that kills anyone if you write their name inside.
• Erase (Dragon Ball Super): The ability to destroy and completely erase universes (and even the multiverse).

   Reality Warping (To Be Hero X) According to Cunningham, Reality Warping is one of the strongest anime powers capable of neutralizing an enemy. Exclusive to the mysterious Hero X, this power allows him to manifest things and warp reality however he pleases. To him, the laws of physics aren’t even laws. He can move mountains, make water solid, and even transform the world from 2D to 3D. That’s like if you snapped your hands and turned the air into a sea of colorful, visible vibrations. Real physics-defying stuff!

   • Cunningham notes that many of the strongest powers in anime involve a level of conscious, god-like control over reality, with no real drawbacks or risks. So, it’s pretty hard to make something stronger than that!

   Thermoacoustic Refrigeration (Fire Force) Karim’s Thermoacoustic Refrigeration ability is definitely one of the most interesting, asserts Cunningham. With his power, he’s able to turn heat energy into sound, continuing that loop to make cold air and ice. All of the powers in Fire Force are fire-based, so Karim’s really stands out because he found a way to turn fire into ice.

   Infinite Deception of Words (Recreators) Megane's deception powers from Recreators are some of the most interesting, says Cunningham. She essentially has reality-warping abilities: if she tells a lie and you deny it, her power inverts things to make her lie true. For example, Cunningham says she tells a bookshop owner that one of the books in the store belongs to her. When the owner denies it, her power makes it so that the book does belong to her.

   • However, Cunningham does note that Magane’s power isn’t as strong as some other reality-bending powers, as it requires some setup. It requires her opponent to reply to her, and if they don’t, her power is useless.

   Kyōka Suigetsu (Bleach) This is another super interesting power, notes Cunningham. If someone sees Aizen activate this ability, he’s able to control their senses and make them experience things that aren’t there, forever. Plus, even if the victim knows they're experiencing an illusion, they can't do anything about it or break through it.

   • While it is a powerful ability, Cunningham explains that it doesn’t do any damage on its own. So, it’s only as strong as the user’s smarts and imagination. Plus, the user remains vulnerable to stray attacks and area of effect attacks.
   • But, Cunningham does believe Kyōka Suigetsu is unparalleled when it comes to stealth and deception.

   Shin Poruku (Zatch Bell!) This is another super interesting power that works similarly to Aizen's ability, Cunningham says. “Anyone who sees or hears Kanchome cast the spell is trapped in an illusory reality where he controls pretty much everything that they experience,” he explains. And there’s no escaping the reality without hurting Kanchome or his partner, Folgore.

   • Cunningham notes that Kanchome’s spell puts a lot of strain on him and Folgore, so they can’t hold it that long. Its strength is also limited to Kanchome’s own mental prowess.
   • However, Cunningham adds that this power is so interesting because Kanchome and Folgore are introduced as comedic characters, but end up with one of the most useful spells.

   New Order (My Hero Academia) Star and Stripe's New Order quirk is another super interesting power, says Cunningham. After touching someone, an object, or herself and saying their name, Star and Stripe can create a rule that alters its properties; in other words, she has reality-shaping abilities. For instance, she can create a giant clone of herself out of air, remove the air from around someone, or stop people’s hearts.

   Vector Manipulation (A Certain Magical Index) Accelerator’s power of Vector Manipulation makes him nearly untouchable, as it allows him to control velocity, force, momentum, electricity, and any vector (quantity) that has size and direction. This means he can repel attacks, change the direction of anything, and track or rewrite the vectors of anything he touches.

   Contractual Re-Creation (Jujutsu Kaisen) This receipt-based ability allows the ancient sorcerer Reggie Star to manifest anything he has a contract for. This means anything listed on a receipt can be brought to the physical realm, including cars, hammers, houses, and whatever weapons he can get proof-of-purchase for. On the surface, it may seem light, but the powers of this move are practically endless.

   Bungee Gum (Hunter x Hunter) This crazy power lets Hisoka turn his Nen into a material that has properties of rubber and gum. This means he can attach his Nen to enemies and stick them to surfaces, fling projectiles back at people or stop them in their place, and even reconnect limbs, stitch mortal wounds, or restart his heart. If that’s not versatile and interesting, who knows what is?

    Trash to Trees (The Law of Ueki) This unique ability allows Ueki to turn any piece of trash into a tree, so long as he can hold the trash in his hands. This isn’t the most powerful move, by any means, but it’s definitely one of the most transformative. Think about it, with one power you can completely change the natural makeup of the world for the better. Who wouldn’t want that?

    Idle Transfiguration (Jujutsu Kaisen) This crazy ability allows the Cursed Spirit Mahito to transform a person’s soul with a touch. And we’re not talking about cute soul purification or anything like that. When Mahito transfigures your soul, he can contort your body in 10 different ways before collapsing it in on itself, blow up half your face, or completely destroy you before you have a chance to react, making him one of the deadliest creatures in the verse.

    Matter Reconstruction (Bleach) This ability is unique to Kisuke Urahara’s Bankai, and it perfectly encapsulates his experimental character. When he activates his Bankai, Kisuke is able to cut and stitch practically any piece of reality within its radius, making it so he can fortify his body for speed, completely reshape a battlefield, and treat the world like a piece of fabric. Talk about overpowered!

    Hogyoku (Bleach) This unique world-bending orb brings the wielder's inner desires (both conscious and unconscious) to reality. For Sosuke Aizen, who wielded the Hogyoku for a majority of Bleach, this meant whenever he was on the ropes or wanted more power, the orb would transform him into a stronger, deadlier enemy. The possibilities of this small ball’s power are endless, making it one of the strongest, most unique power mechanisms in anime.

    Kamui (Naruto) When this Sharingan ability is activated, the wielders are given access to a pocket dimension that is unique to them. With this pocket dimension, they can transport parts of their body away and make it seem like they’re intangible or they can send enemies off to be trapped forever.    All Fiction (Medaka Box) All Fiction is one of the strongest anime powers for taking down enemies, says Cunningham. This dimension-warping ability lets the wielder erase literally anything. This includes natural laws and the fabric of reality itself, meaning they can deny death, erase injuries, and wipe someone from existence. The worst part is that there aren’t any conditions that need to be met in order to activate it. To the wielder Misogi Kumagawa, it’s as simple as breathing.

   Erase (Dragon Ball Super) Zeno's Erasure ability is one of the most powerful in anime, agrees Cunningham. This is easily the most broken ability in the Dragon Ball franchise, so it makes sense that only Grand Zeno, the supreme ruler of the multiverse, can use it. With the lift of his arm, Grand Zeno can destroy any universe in an instant. If he really wants to, he can take out the multiverse. And it’s not just a blast, either. Grand Zeno literally erases everything and everyone. There’s not any trace of them left. Freaky.

   Shinrabanshoman (Fire Force) Shinrabanshoman is a super strong ability that guarantees the opponent will be neutralized, Cunningham says. This is the combined form of Shinra Kusakabe, Sho Kusakabe, and Mari Kusakabe—who are each powerful in their own right—which gives Shinrabanshoman god-like powers. He can shape reality, revive and create life, and manipulate time. Plus, he’s seemingly invulnerable to all attacks.

   Ultimate Madoka (Puella Magi Madoka Magica) Ultimate Madoka’s powers are some of the strongest in anime, notes Cunningham, guaranteeing her enemy’s defeat. Madoka transforms into Ultimate Madoka after she wishes to have the power to erase all witches. This enables her to eradicate witches in the past, present, and future, essentially turning her into an omnipotent, omniscient, and omnipresent goddess.

   • However, Madoka loses her humanity and becomes more of a concept than a physical presence in the universe.

   Infinite Tsukuyomi (Naruto) Infinite Tsukuyomi is an incredibly powerful ability that guarantees an opponent will be neutralized, Cunningham asserts. This is a genjutsu where the user generates enough chakra to illuminate the entire world and trap everyone (including animals) in an illusion. The victims can’t move while they’re “dreaming,” which allows the user to steal their chakra and eventually, their entire life force.

   • On a…slightly positive note, the victims of Infinite Tsukuyomi experience their deepest desires coming true. So, at the very least, they’re not trapped in a nightmare.

   Cheap Trick (JoJo's Bizarre Adventure) Cunningham says the Cheap Trick stand is one of the strongest powers in anime, which almost guarantees taking out an opponent. Cheap Trick latches itself to its host's back, and if anyone looks at their back, Cheap Trick kills the host and attaches itself to the person who looked. So, it’s just rinse and repeat until all threats are neutralized, Cunningham explains.

   • While guaranteed kill attacks might not be the physically strongest or contain the most raw power, Cunningham says they’re definitely overpowered!

   Wonder of U (JoJo's Bizarre Adventure) Wonder of U is another super powerful ability from JJBA that Cunningham considers one of the strongest. This stand subjects any person who pursues it or its user (aka Toru), or even the desire to pursue them, to horrible calamities, like causing fatal accidents or turning normal things (like rain) into brutal weapons. The effects work at long range, and there’s virtually no way for victims to defend themselves.

   The Almighty (Bleach) This is the most broken ability in all of anime. When the Quincy King, Yhwach, uses The Almighty, he can see every single possible future and rewrite it to align with what he wants. So if he sees that he’s killed in one future or loses a battle in another, he can stop those events from ever occurring, making it so he’s effectively all-powerful and unstoppable.

   Future Sight (One Piece) Like The Almighty, this broken ability lets the wielder see into the future as the name suggests. While they can only see a few seconds into the future, they can still see a person’s exact moves before they happen. This means they can effortlessly block or dodge punches, take advantage of any open weak spots, and beat you in a battle before it has a chance to truly progress.

    The Mystic Eyes of Death Perception (Kara no Kyoukai) The Mystic Eyes of Death Perception are a unique ability that allows the user to perceive death as visual lines and points on the body. If they are able to cut these lines or hit these weak points, they can kill their enemy instantly. This makes it an ability that requires precision to be deadly, as they have to be able to hit their target to inflict damage.

    Immortality (Various Anime) There’s a reason why so many anime characters strive to be immortal. Being able to live forever, tank and regenerate from any type of damage, and elude any of your enemy’s attempts to kill you is extremely overpowered. Whether it’s Kaguya Otsutsuki from Naruto, Grand Zeno from Dragon Ball Super, or Alucard from Hellsing, once characters get their hands on immortality, there’s practically nothing that can stop them.

    Hakai (Dragon Ball Super) Hakai is another destructive ability that erases someone from existence, albeit much more painfully than something like Grand Zeno’s Erase. Mainly used by the Gods of Destruction, Hakai completely wipes a person from all planes of existence using divine energy. They can’t go to the afterlife or anything, making it deadly on multiple fronts.

    The Miracle (Bleach) Granted to Gerard Valkyrie, this unique Schrift makes it so any damage the Quincy takes grants him proportional strength and size. This means if he’s hit with an attack that would normally kill someone else, he only grows stronger and more powerful. This makes him nearly impossible to take down, and even if you manage to, say, cut him in half, he’ll only sew himself back together and reemerge as an even stronger foe.

    Rewind (My Hero Academia) Eri is highly sought-after by the villains of My Hero Academia for this Quirk, which allows her to rewind anything to a previous state. (A Quirk, as anime expert Nicole Favarelli explains, is a genetic superpower in the MHA world.) Not only can she bring back limbs with this power, but she can also rewind a person’s Quirk away so it completely disappears from their body. She can even take it a step further and rewind the person back to when they didn’t exist! Talk about strong, am I right?

    Decay (My Hero Academia) Tomura Shigaraki’s Quirk makes it so anything he touches instantly turns to dust. While it’s a source of trauma for Shigaraki, on our list, it’s one of the deadliest powers. You don’t have to be stronger than someone or fulfill some kind of outlandish condition. One touch and boom, your enemy decays and they can’t do anything about it. Now that’s overpowered.

   Super Saiyan (Dragon Ball Z) Super Saiyan is one of the most iconic transformations in anime. Everyone remembers where they were when they saw Goku finally achieve the legendary form against Frieza, and how they felt seeing him use his newfound strength and supreme power to crush the tyrant who had him on the ropes just moments earlier. If it wasn’t for this one, anime transformations wouldn’t be nearly as cool as they are today.

   • The transformation scenes alone are enough to make this power iconic. Seeing the muscles bulge, the aura fill up the screen, and the Saiyan use all of their willpower to go further beyond always sends chills down the spine.

   Jinchuriki/Tailed Beast Powers (Naruto) A jinchuriki is someone who has a tailed beast inside of them, and depending on the relationship between them and their tailed beast, a jinchuriki can access their power set. This means they can launch gigantic, mountain-crushing tailed beast bombs, gain enhanced strength and durability, and in some cases, transform into a giant beast.

   • This is one of the more unique powers on this list, as it requires two beings working together to fully utilize.

   Sharingan (Naruto) Not only is it one of the coolest-looking abilities in anime, but the power set granted to a Sharingan user is unforgettable once you see what they can do. This Kekkei Genkai—that is, specific powers passed down through family lines, as Cunningham explains—allows users to see the flow of chakra and grants them enhanced perception. Depending on how evolved the eye is, gives them personalized abilities like black flames that never go out or access to a pocket-dimension.

   The Death Note (Death Note) The Death Note gives its users one of the strongest powers in anime, Cunningham asserts. “The Death Note's ability to kill anyone whose name is written in it makes it crazy overpowered, especially when it's as inconspicuous as writing in a notebook,” he explains. In the anime, Light Yagami uses the Death Note to enact his own sense of justice on the world, writing in specific ways for criminals and others to die, pop culture commentator Michael Udayakumar explains.

   • The Death Note is essentially a crazy, reality-bending power that can’t be trusted in the hands of an ordinary man.
   • The Death Note is so iconic because of how unique it is. The ability to kill someone by writing their name was seldom explored in anime and manga prior to Death Note’s release, so it understandably took the world by storm.
   • When Shinigami Eyes are paired with the Death Note, this power is almost unbeatable, Cunningham adds. The Shinigami Eyes allow a person to see others' names and lifespans (at the cost of half of the user's remaining life). So, all it takes is one look at a person to know enough about them to take them out, he explains.

   Haki (One Piece) Haki is all about willpower, making it a unique (and iconic) ability. It basically lets you transform your willpower and spiritual energy into physical power, so if you have enough of each, you can become superhuman. The three types of Haki include Observation Haki (a sixth sense that lets you sense strength and emotion), Armament Haki (aura-built armor), and Supreme King Haki (the ability to overpower others with your own willpower).

   One for All (My Hero Academia) This iconic Quirk is a stockpiler that allows users to gather strength and use the Quirks of previous wielders. It was made iconic by the legendary All Might, who used its superior strength and speed to keep crime at an all time low. Once Deku took the Quirk on for himself, he gained access to all of the Quirks previous wielders held, making him one of the strongest heroes in the MHA universe.

This means they can stockpile an endless amount of Quirks, making them extremely powerful and unpredictable.

   • This power is what made the villain All for One such a threat in the My Hero Academia universe. Even after being stopped by the All Might, he was able to bring the world to its knees using his Quirk and years of preparation.

   Breathing Styles (Demon Slayer) Breathing Styles are swordsmanship styles that use concentrated breathing and combat dances to produce elegant elemental slashes. There are five main Breathing Styles, all of which mimic a different element of nature. Although they don’t actually put fire or lightning into your slashes, the cutting power that Breathing Styles add makes it feel like you’re getting hit by the real thing.

   • The main Breathing Styles are Flame Breathing, Water Breathing, Thunder Breathing, Wind Breathing, and Stone Breathing.
   • Breathing Styles are known for their stunning visual effects. Although the fire, water, and lightning effects in the anime aren’t actually happening on the battlefield, the visuals are enough to get fans jumping out of their seats.
   • Although there are five main Breathing Styles, there are many more that aren’t as common, such as Serpent Breathing and Insect Breathing.

   Titan Shifting (Attack on Titan) The Titans from Attack on Titan have very interesting powers, agrees Cunningham. Being able to go from a human to a gigantic Titan with enhanced strength, durability, and mystical powers is crazy enough, but when you consider the impact Attack on Titan has had on anime culture, it makes sense why it’s so iconic.

   • For a decade, Attack on Titan was one of the most hyped anime, so when it delivered and showed just how dangerously powerful these monsters could be, fans were satisfied, to say the least!

    The World (JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure) This broken Stand allows its wielder Dio to stop time and traverse freely through the frozen world. It’s a creepy Stand that makes him nigh-invincible, as he can stop attacks that are within 10 meters (32.81 feet) and seemingly disappear and reappear whenever he feels.
