   Asta Black Clover follows Asta, a loud (and often annoying) boy who has no magic but lives in a magical world, explains anime expert Dr. Applesauce. Despite lacking magic, Asta wants to be the Wizard King, the leader of the Magical Knights and one of the highest classes in the Clover Kingdom. So, Asta physically trains so he’s incredibly strong and ends up taking the magical test to become a Knight, Dr. Applesauce says. And to everyone’s surprise, he receives a magical grimoire that allows him to use anti-magic, which he controls with swords. This begins Asta’s journey to grow more powerful and achieve his dream of being Wizard King.

   Noelle Silva Noelle is a member of House Silva, one of the royal families in the Clover Kingdom. Despite her immense magic ability, she has trouble controlling her powers, which led to her being mocked and rejected by her family. She’s still able to join the Magic Knights, though, where she meets Asta (whom she initially dislikes because of his commoner background). Noelle comes off as arrogant, pretentious, and cold, but she’s truly kind and driven to protect those she cares about.

   Liebe Liebe is a devil who resides inside Asta’s five-leaf clover grimoire, giving him his anti-magic power. He was born without magic in the underworld but one day found himself in the living world. Asta’s mother, Licita, found Liebe and decided to adopt him. However, when the devil Lucifero found out Liebe was in the living world, he came to take Liebe back. Licita saved Liebe by placing him in the five-leaf clover grimoire she found, dying in the process. This is where Liebe developed his anti-magic powers and intense hatred for devils.

Despite being a Captain, Yami is crude, hot-headed, reckless, and impulsive. However, he recognizes Asta’s talent and lets him into the Black Bulls and does want his inferiors to be their best…though he’s not nice about whipping them into shape.

   Julius Novachrono Julius is the Wizard King and leader of all the other Magic Knights. While deeply wise and very powerful, Julius is childish and obsessed with magic, often avoiding his duties and disguising himself so he can search for rare magical abilities (as such, he takes special interest in Asta). He’s deeply devoted and loyal to the Clover Kingdom and doesn’t care one bit about anyone’s status or magical strength—everyone’s equal in his eyes.

Alongside his siblings Vanica and Zenon, he usurped the royal Grinberryall family and took control of the kingdom. Dante is the host for the devil Lucifero, the highest-ranking devil in the underworld, whose ultimate goal is to bring devils into the living world and destroy humans he sees as weak.
