The Subnautica games are so fun for exploring, but surviving and progressing through the game can be challenging. With console commands, you can make the game a lot easier by accessing cheats and unlocks earlier. Luckily, accessing the menu and inputting the commands is easy for both Subnautica 1 and Subnautica 2. How to Use Console Commands for Subnautica

Subnautica gamer Aci says to press Shift + Enter on PC to enter console commands for Subnautica 1. Or, press LB + RB + A on Xbox, R1 + L1 + X on PlayStation, or ZL + L + R + ZR on Switch 2. For Subnautica 2, install the UE4SS and Console Commands mod and press F2 in-game. Then, enter your text command in the input box.

   Install the UE4SS Console Commands mod in the game’s file folder. Unlike the first Subnautica game, there is no debug menu in the game that lets you input console commands. However, there is a mod released by UE4SS that lets you activate console commands for the PC version.

   • Download the UE4SS Mod for Subnautica 2.
   • Access the Subnautica 2 files that are installed on your computer.
     • If you purchased through Steam, right-click on the game, select Manage, and click Browse local files.
   • Go to the folder path Subnautica2 → Binaries → Win64.
   • Extract the UE4SS Mod ZIP file into the Win64 folder.
   • Download the Console Commands mod.
   • Follow the folder path UE4SS → Mods.
   • Extract the Console Commands ZIP file into the Mods folder.

   Press F2 to open the menu to use console commands. When you launch Subnautica 2 and start your game, press F2 on your keyboard for the menu. Multiple quick commands will appear that you can easily click to use, or you can type in your own console commands.

   • What are console commands? Aci explains that “console commands are what developers often use to test the game.    Cheats All of the cheat console commands make the game easier to play and survive while you’re exploring underwater. While these options appear as buttons on screen, you can type them in as well.

   • oxygen: disables oxygen loss while underwater
   • hunger: disables hunger so you don’t have to eat
   • thirst: disables thirst so you don’t have to drink
   • god: disables damage, oxygen loss, hunger, and thirst
   • invisible: become invisible to hostile lifeforms
   • unlockall: unlock all of the recipes, blueprints, and journal entries in the game
   • nocost: craft whatever you want without the required resources
   • kill: kill your character and instantly respawn

   Settings These settings affect your experience in the game, but they don’t change any of the core mechanics of the game. When you’re looking for something at a specific time of day or want a better view, try these commands.

   • day: set the game to daytime
   • night: set the game to nighttime
   • daynight [number]: set a specific time of day
   • fov [number]: change the camera’s field of vision
   • togglehud: turn off the heads-up display on screen
     • You may need to quit or restart your game to revert this setting.

   Spawning items If you want to add new items to your inventory, use the console command Item [name] [number]. Each item has a different name, or spawn ID, and the number you list determines how many you receive, so entering “Item copper 4” will add 4 Copper to your inventory. There are currently around 70 known spawn IDs that work in Subnautica 2, and some that you may want to use include:

   • Titanium: titanium
   • Copper: copper
   • Sulfur: sulfur
   • Dedicated core: computerchipmk2

   Enable console commands with a keyboard or controller. The original Subnautica lets you access the developer console while you’re playing the game. You can use console commands whether you’re playing on PC, Xbox One, PlayStation 4, or the Nintendo Switch 2. Just keep in mind that activating and using console commands prevents you from earning achievements.

   • PC: Shift + Enter

   General cheats Cheats can make the game easier or give you shortcuts that help you reach your goals faster.

   • noenergy: toggle power usage for all vehicles, tools, and Seabases
   • nosurvival: toggle hunger and thirst needs for your character
   • oxygen: toggle your character's need for oxygen
   • nitrogen: stay underwater for longer but increase chances of decompression sickness
   • radiation: stop your character from taking radiation damage
   • instagib: kill any creature with one hit, but die instantly by taking any damage
   • invisible: become invisible to all creatures

   Spawning items If you don’t want to find or craft materials in the game, multiple console commands instantly give you what you need to progress through the story. There are multiple spawn IDS) for each unique item.

   • item [name] [number]: spawn the listed number of items into your inventory
   • spawn [name] [number]: spawn the listed number of items, objects, or creatures in front of you
   • spawnloot: spawn quartz, copper ore, silver ore, salt deposit, gold, and metal salvage

   Unlocks When you want to get new upgrades but don’t want to wait to find them in game, you can unlock everything you need with a simple console command.

   • unlock [blueprint name]: unlock the specified blueprint
   • unlockall: unlock all the blueprints
   • lock [blueprint name]: lock the specified blueprint
   • vehicleupgrades: add all the common upgrades to your vehicles
   • cyclopsupgrades: add all upgrades to the Cyclops submarine
   • seamothupgrades: add all upgrades and modules to the Seamoth

   • exosuitarms: give the Prawn Suit grappling, torpedo, propulsion cannon, drill, and claw arms

   Teleporting Teleporting lets you get to places across the map quickly without having to explore. You can either go directly to a new biome or choose exact coordinates for where you want to travel.

   • biome [name]: teleport to the specified biome
   • warp [x] [y] [z]: teleport to the specified coordinates on the map
   • warpforward [number]: teleport forward the specified distance
   • batch [x] [y] [z]: teleport to the specified batch coordinates
   • warpme: teleport to the last vehicle you were in
   • goto [location]: teleport to the specified location on the map
   • randomstart: teleport your character to a lifepod at a random start location
   • kill: kill your character and respawn in a lifepod

   Events Game events usually trigger when you reach certain milestones, but you can force them to occur even sooner if you want to progress faster through the game. Just keep in mind you won’t get any achievements if you use the console commands.

   • countdownship: start the countdown for the Aurora’s drive core explosion
   • explodeship: make the Aurora’s drive core explode
   • restoreship: revert the Aurora to its original form and turn on radiation
   • startsunbeamstoryevent: begin the Sunbeam event in the game’s main story

   Technical settings Technical settings let you affect how the game feels and looks, and you can also change the game mode you’re playing.

   • freedom: switch the game to Freedom Mode
   • creative: switch the game to Creative Mode
   • survival: switch the game to Survival Mode
   • hardcore: switch the game to Hardcore Mode with permanent death
   • printbiome: print the name of the biome you’re currently in
   • day: set the map to daytime
   • night: set the map to nighttime
   • daynightspeed [number]: speed up or slow down the day/night cycle
   • speed [number]: speed up or slow down the speed of the game
     • According to Aci, “If you type in ‘speed 0’… the whole game freezes.” If you combine that with “freecam” or “ghost,” he says you can still move around, which helps you take a very close look at stuff.

   • freecam: move the camera freely through the map
     • Aci notes that “ghost” is another useful command for flying around and looking at things
   • fps: toggle the frames per second reading on screen

   • cinematics: toggle all the animations in the game

   Performance settings Adjusting the performance settings in the console can make your game run smoother and faster if it’s starting to slow down. These settings often require you to restart your game before they take effect.

   • fog: toggle fog in your game
   • nobloom: remove bloom effects in your game
   • noshadows: turn off shadows in your game
   • vsync: toggle the VSync graphics setting
