13 Quick Fixes When Discord Says You Have 0 Ping

In most cases, the lower your ping is, the better. Anything below 10 milliseconds (ms) is exceptionally good. However, 0 ping is physically impossible. If you are seeing 0 ping on an app like Discord, it’s probably a bug. This is an issue that has been known to happen during voice calls, especially. Luckily, there are a few things you can do to try to fix it. This wikiHow article teaches you how to troubleshoot 0 ping in Discord.

This is most likely a visual bug. If it’s not causing any other issues, you can ignore it. If it’s causing other problems, you can reconnect to the voice chat, restart Discord, and restart your computer. Check your VPN and firewall settings, or flush your DNS settings. Reconnect to the voice call.

This typically happens during a voice call. If everyone is able to hear you just fine during the call, then don’t worry about it. However, if you are experiencing audio drops or no one is able to hear you, click the icon that resembles a phone receiver to disconnect from the call. Restart Discord.

To restart Discord, simply click the “x” icon on Windows in the upper-right corner, or the red dot icon on Mac. Launch Discord again from the Windows Settings menu or from the Applications folder on Mac. See if the issue is still happening.

Many who have experienced this problem report that it does not occur when using Discord in a web browser, such as Google Chrome. You may try using Discord in a web server as a temporary fix. To do so, go to discord.com and click Open in your web browser. If needed, sign in to your Discord account.

Check the status of Discord’s services.

As with all online services, they occasionally need to take certain services down for maintenance or repairs. Before trying more advanced fixes (like reinstalling the Discord app), check the status of Discord services on their official status page. Check whether there are any issues with Voice in your region. Also, check if there are any issues with the Media Proxy or Client. If there are, you’ll just need to wait for Discord to resolve those issues.

Reinstall Discord.

There may be an issue with your app installation. If the servers are online and other fixes aren't working, you may need to reinstall the app. Go ahead and uninstall the app from your system. Then go to the official Discord web page and click the Download button. Open the installation file in your Downloads folder and reinstall Discord.
- To uninstall Discord on Windows, click the Windows Start menu and type “uninstall.” Click Add or remove programs. Then click the icon with three dots ( ••• ) next to Discord and click Uninstall. Follow the prompts to uninstall the app.
- To uninstall Discord on Mac, open the Applications folder in the Finder and drag and drop Discord to the trash icon.

Enable or disable Quality of Service.

Quality of service may be causing issues with your connection. Quality of Service is a setting that tells your router that information from Discord is a higher priority than anything else. However, it may be causing glitches in your connection. Use the following steps to toggle Quality of Service on or off.
- Click the Gear/Settings icon in Discord.
- Click Voice & Video.
- Click Show Advanced Voice Settings.
- Toggle Quality of Service on or off.
- Restart Discord.

Clear the app cache.

The cache may be corrupt. The cache is meant to help apps load faster and run more smoothly, but over time, it can become corrupt. Clearing the cache may fix any minor errors you are experiencing. To clear the cache, open the Discord cache folder on your computer and delete all the contents within. The Discord cache folder is located at the following locations:

Flush your DNS settings.

- Mac: Click the Spotlight/Magnifying glass icon and enter “Terminal” in the search bar. Click the Terminal to open it. Type sudo killall -HUP mDNSResponder && echo macOS DNS Cache Reset and press Enter. Enter your password if prompted.

Disable your VPN.

If you are using a VPN, Discord may not be able to get an accurate ping reading. Try disabling your VPN. Restart Discord and try again.

Check your firewall settings.

Your firewall may be interfering with Discord. If you have a firewall enabled on your router, you’ll need to log in to your router’s web interface and check the firewall settings. Check for any firewall rules regarding Discord and remove them. The same goes if you are using a third-party firewall software or the built-in Windows and Mac firewall settings. Use one of the following steps to check the Windows or Mac firewall settings:
- Windows: Click the Windows Start menu and type “firewall.” Click Windows Defender Firewall. Click Allow an app or feature through Windows Defender Firewall. Make sure Discord is in the list of allowed apps. If it isn’t, click Change Settings and click Allow another app. Click Browse and navigate to the Discord executable file. Select it and click Add.
- Mac: Click the Apple Icon and click System Settings > Network > Firewall > Options. Make sure Discord is in the list of allowed apps. If it isn’t, click + Add below the list of apps and select Discord, and click Add.^{[3]
