This wikiHow shows how to jailbreak your iPhone, iPad and iPod touch running iOS/iPadOS 13. The process varies depending on the iOS/iPadOS version and device model. Jailbreaking your iOS/iPadOS device allows you to install tweaks as well as sideloading apps downloaded outside App Store. Back up your device before jailbreaking as something can go wrong during jailbreaking.

Using Amethyst (iOS/iPadOS 13.0-13.7)

  1. Step 1 Make sure you have a compatible device running the compatible iOS/iPadOS version.
    Amethyst jailbreak is supported on devices running iOS/iPadOS 13.0 to 13.7.[1]
    • You can check the iOS/iPadOS version by going to Settings -> General -> About on your device.[2]
    • Although this article shows iOS/iPadOS 13.x jailbreaks, Amethyst also works for devices running iOS 12.x.
  2. Step 2 Download and install the necessary files.
    Download the latest version of Amethyst and PlumeImpactor on your computer, and install PlumeImpactor.[1]
    • If your computer is running Windows, you also need to download and install iTunes (not the Microsoft Store version).

  3. Step 3 Plug your device into your computer.
    Use USB-A to Lightning or USB-A to USB-C cable. Plug the Lightning or USB-C end into your device and USB-A end into your computer. Trust the connection on your computer and on your device.[1]

    Install Amethyst. Open PlumeImpactor and click Settings and Sign In. Enter your Apple Account details. Drag and drop the Amethyst IPA into the main PlumeImpactor window. Install the IPA by clicking Install.[1]
  5. Step 5 Trust the developer.
    Go to Settings -> General -> Device Management -> [your Apple Account] on your device and tap Trust [your Apple Account] to trust the developer.[1]
    • It is recommended to reboot your device after doing this step.

    Run the Amethyst jailbreak. Open the Amethyst app on your device and tap Jailbreak. Wait for a prompt to appear, then reboot your device, then open Amethyst and tap Jailbreak again. After you perform this step, your device should have both Sileo and Zebra installed.[1]
    • If your device crashes or reboots without a prompt and doesn’t have Sileo installed, wait for 1 to 2 minutes, reboot, and rerun the jailbreak again.

Using Odyssey (iOS/iPadOS 13.0-13.7)

  1. Step 1 Make sure you have a compatible device running the compatible iOS version.
    Odyssey jailbreak is supported on devices running iOS/iPadOS 13.0 to 13.7.[3]
    • You can check the iOS/iPadOS version by going to Settings -> General -> About on your device.[2]
  2. Step 2 Download and install the necessary files.
    Download the latest version of Odyssey and PlumeImpactor on your computer, and install PlumeImpactor.[3]
    • If your computer is running Windows, you also need to download and install iTunes (not the Microsoft Store version).
  3. Step 3 Plug your device into your computer.
    Use a USB-A to Lightning or USB-A to USB-C cable. Plug the Lightning or USB-C end into your device, and the USB-A end into your computer. Trust the connection on your computer and on your device.[3]

    Run the Odyssey jailbreak. Open the Odyssey app on your device and tap Jailbreak again. After you perform this step, your device should have Sileo installed.[3]
    • If your device crashes unexpectedly and doesn’t have Sileo installed, rerun the jailbreak again and over until it succeeds.
    • If you encounter ERR_Jailbreak error, reboot your device, open Odyssey again, enable Restore Rootfs, and rerun the jailbreak again.[4]
    • If you encounter ERR_Already_Jailbroken or ERR_TFP0 error, reboot your device, open Odyssey again, and rerun the jailbreak again.[4]
  7. Step 7 Install necessary tweaks.
    Open the Sileo app, search for libiosexec1 tweak and tap Modify, Upgrade, Queued and Confirm to upgrade the tweak. Search for libhooker (common), PreferenceLoader and RocketBootstrap tweak and tap Install on all. Tap Queued and Confirm to install these tweaks. Once installed, tap Restart SpringBoard to restart SpringBoard.[3]

Using unc0ver (iOS/iPadOS 13.0-13.7)

    unc0ver jailbreak is supported on devices running iOS/iPadOS 13.0-13.7.[5]
    • You can check the iOS version by going to Settings -> General -> About on your device.[2]
    • Although this article shows iOS/iPadOS 13 jailbreaks, unc0ver also works for devices running iOS 11.0-12.5.5 and iOS/iPadOS 14.0-14.3, as well as iPhone XR, XS, 11 series and SE (2nd generation) running iOS 14.6-14.8.
  2. Step 2 Download and install the necessary files.
    Download the version 6.1.1 of unc0ver IPA if using iOS/iPadOS 13.5.1 and later or version 5.3.1 of unc0ver IPA if using iOS/iPadOS 13.5 and earlier, and PlumeImpactor on your computer, and install PlumeImpactor.[3] [5]
    • If your computer is running Windows, you also need to download and install iTunes (not the Microsoft Store version).
  3. Step 3 Plug your device into your computer.
    Use a USB-A to Lightning cable. Plug the Lightning end into your device, and the USB-A end into your computer. Trust the connection on your computer and on your device.[5]
  4. Step 4 Install unc0ver.
    Open PlumeImpactor and click Settings and Sign In. Enter your Apple Account details. Drag and drop the unc0ver IPA into the main PlumeImpactor window. Install the IPA by clicking Install.[3] [5]
  5. Step 5 Trust the developer.
    Go to Settings -> General -> Device Management -> [your Apple Account] on your device and tap Trust [your Apple Account] to trust the developer.[5]
    • It is recommended to reboot your device after doing this step.
  6. Step 6 Run the unc0ver jailbreak.
    Open the unc0ver app on your device, disable the Disable Auto Updates toggle in the app settings menu, and after that, tap Jailbreak. When prompted, reboot your device, open unc0ver app and tap Jailbreak again.[5]
    • If you get the "rootFS already mounted, delete the OTA update" error, delete the OTA update by going to Settings -> General -> iPhone/iPad/iPod Storage -> System Update and tap Delete, and run unc0ver jailbreak again.[4]
    • After you successfully jailbreak your device, Cydia should be installed on the home screen.
