The series My Little Pony is already magical, but MLP theories make it even more fascinating. Fans have come up with numerous possibilities for the show’s characters and storyline. Some of these conspiracies make total sense, while others are super strange. We’re about to dig into some of the most talked-about MLP theories, like the Lyra & Bon Bon Romance, Earth Pony Magic, and more!

An early theory suggested Lyra and Bon Bon were romantically involved. And, this one has been confirmed. Early seasons of the series frequently showed Lyra Heartstrings and Bon Bon (aka Sweetie Drops) in the background next to each other. Fans couldn’t help but notice their playfulness and theorize that the two liked one another. As the show progressed, their romance was written into the storyline and they got married!

Her comedy powers are rooted in “Toon Force” and are so wild that they have a comedic effect. She’s been known to break the fourth wall, teleport, and pull objects from thin air. This has got fans wondering if the place the ponies inhabit was Earth at one time. Authoritarian Ruler Princess Celestia

According to this theory, Princess Celestia’s banishment was staged by her and Luna so they could have absolute power over Equestria. They force peace through the Elements of Harmony and don’t acknowledge any history before their takeover.

The Fate of Applejack’s Parents

Many theories have tried to explain the absence of Applejack’s parents. Before season 7 finally revealed this info, fans couldn’t help but notice that Applejack’s parents, Bright Mac and Pear Butter, never made an appearance in My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic. The show doesn’t specify how they died, but it is universally accepted that the couple died when Applejack and Big Mac were young. However, here are some of the popular speculations that went around before this confirmation:
- The Timberwolf Attack: Bright Mac and Pear Butter were attacked and killed by timberwolves while trying to protect their family.
- The “Star-Crossed” Tragedy: Applejack’s parents died from some sort of illness or had a fatal accident, which meant Applejack had to become a parent to Apple Bloom.
- The “Alien” Meme: A funny theory, mainly thrown out there as a joke, that said the parents were either lost in space or taken down by aliens.
- The “Orphan” Theory: The mother died giving birth to Apple Bloom and the father died of a broken heart or from a magic-related accident.

Equestria may sit on top of the “Realm of Darkness” from Gen 1. According to this fan theory, when the villain Grogar was defeated, the ponies began terraforming Tambelon into Equestria. Some believe that Celestia, Luna, and an extinct race of alicorns were originally from Tambelon. This has created a connection between G1 and G4 and links Celestia and Luna to the evil Emperor Grogar.
