Steam Store Not Loading? Here's How to Fix It

Troubleshoot the Steam store when it's not loading

Is the store on Steam not loading? If you can't access the store page, you may need to clear your cache or fully restart Steam. In some cases, Steam may be down. Here's why the Steam store may not be loading and how to fix it.

Steam Store Won't Load: Quick Fixes

In the desktop client, delete the cache by going to Settings > Downloads and clicking Clear Cache.
Close Steam fully using the Task Manager or Activity Monitor, and then open it again.
Temporarily get the Steam store to load by using Big Picture Mode in Steam.

Delete the Steam cache.

Clogged cache files can cause bugs that interfere with Steam. Once you clear the cache, you'll see the store loading like normal. To clear your Steam cache, do the following:^{[1]

- Open the Steam client.
- Select Steam at the top.
- Select Settings.
- Select Downloads in the left panel.
- Select Clear Cache next to Clear Download Cache.
- Select Confirm.

Restart Steam.

A simple restart might do the trick. Temporary glitches can prevent the store from loading properly, so closing it and opening it again can fix the error. To completely close the platform, go to Steam > Exit. Just make sure Steam still isn't running in the background with Activity Monitor or Task Manager, then open Steam again.
- If this happens whenever Steam auto-starts when you turn on your computer, disable that feature so you manually open Steam.
- If you're using a Steam Deck, you'll need to restart your device instead. Press and hold the Power button for 4(LCD) or 7(OLED) seconds to prompt the restart.

Enter Big Picture Mode.

This forces Steam to reload and makes the store load. Even though this is a temporary fix, which means it's not going to continuously work for you, this is one of the better short fixes.
- To enter Big Picture Mode, click the Display icon that looks like a TV in the top right corner.

Check Steam status.

Go to steamstat.us to check Steam's status. If the Steam store isn't loading for you, there's a chance Steam itself is experiencing issues. If this is the case, you'll need to wait for Steam to fix the problem.

Turn off Beta features.

This includes symptoms like the store not loading. To fix this, go to Settings > Interface and use the drop-down next to "Client Beta Participation" to choose "No beta chosen."^{[2]

Check for interfering programs and apps.

Services like your antivirus might be preventing Steam from loading the store. VPNs, P2P clients, file-sharing software, firewalls, and security applications are also possible causes for your store not loading in the Steam client.
- Check if any of them are preventing Steam from working properly, then turn them off or allow Steam to continue working to solve the "Store Not Loading" issue.^{[3]
