Tips

Vampire Survivors has a ton of hidden characters and relics that you can unlock. Rather than figuring out how to unlock them on your own, you can access the Secrets menu for helpful hints to guide you. The Secrets menu also lets you enter spells so you don’t have to grind. Keep reading, and we’ll walk you through how to get the Secrets menu and unlock all the secret characters in the base game!

How to Get and Use the Vampire Survivors Secrets Menu

To get the Secrets menu, defeat the Sketamari enemy on the southern end of the Bone Zone stage. After beating it, the Forbidden Scrolls of Morbane relic unlocks and gives you access to the Secrets option at the main menu. Use the Secrets menu for hints to get hidden characters and enter spell codes.

How to Unlock the Secrets Menu in Vampire Survivors

Get the Forbidden Scrolls of Morbane by defeating the Sketamari enemy. Start a game in the Bone Zone. Level up a few times at the start of the round, and then head straight south on the map. The Sketamari looks like a large ball of bones that absorbs other enemies. As soon as you defeat it and pick up the Forbidden Scrolls, you’ll immediately have access to the Secrets menu from the main screen.^{[1]

- Try to get down to the Sketamari as fast as you can because it gets stronger as it absorbs more enemies.

Click on the Yellow Sign in the Collection 7 times to temporarily unlock the Secrets menu. The Yellow Sign is a relic you can unlock by defeating the Trinacria boss on the Moongolow stage. After that, you’ll be teleported to the Holy Forbidden, where you just need to follow the hallway until you reach the Yellow Sign.^{[2]

Research source} Then, from the Collection menu, click the Yellow Sign relic 7 times and a notification will appear saying you unlocked the Secrets menu.
- If you restart the game, the Secrets menu will disappear, and you’ll have to click on the Yellow Sign again to temporarily unlock it.

Secret Characters in Vampire Survivors

The Secrets menu tells you to follow the trail after taking the Pummarola and Skull O’Maniac from the Mad Forest to unlock this character. After you pick up those items, a trail made of pies will appear and direct you to the left side of the map, where you’ll see the shadowy Marrabbi enemy. If you defeat it, you’ll be able to unlock him as a playable character.^{[3]

Avatar The hint to unlock Avatar states that it’s only tangible in the inverted Inlaid Library. Play a run from the Inlaid Library stage in inverse mode, and head to the far right section of the map until you see the piano. Defeat the enemy there and go to the piano. Play the notes D, A, A#, G, and C# to teleport to a new area. Open the coffins to discover Avatar Infernus. Defeat him, and you’ll be able to access him from the character select menu.^{[4]

- If you have the Peachone or Ebony Wings, the birds will point to the correct notes to play on the piano.
Minnah’s hint tells you to deal with the consequences of stealing the cheese from the Dairy Plant. When you start a run on the stage, check the map for a Chicken and head in that direction to pick up the cheese. When you find it, multiple werewolves will appear around you. If you defeat them all, Minnah becomes available as a playable character.^{[5]

Leda’s hint simply tells you to investigate the bottom of the Giallo Tower. When you’re on the stage, head straight down with a fast character to find the Leda enemy. Once you defeat her, she becomes available as a character.^{[6]

The hint for Cosmo says to visit the fiery balcony in Cappella Magna with a pure heart and 2 good friends. Start a run on Cappella Magna stage with a character that has not picked up any Golden Eggs, and collect the Peachone and Ebony Wings weapons. Head north on the map until you find the Nduja Fritta Tanto that lets you breathe fire. Picking it up spawns Cosmo on the map, and approaching them will unlock them as a character.^{[7]

Peppino’s hint says to be a good boy in Il Molise. Start a run on the Il Molise stage and use the Celestial Dusting weapon to attack the enemy plants, which will actually heal them. As soon as you heal 100,000 health on the enemy plants, Peppino unlocks in the character menu.^{[8]

Trouser’s hint says to run away from Moongolow with all 16 accessories mastered. When you start a run in this stage, collect all 16 stage items and level them up so they’re maxed. Then, just quit the game to the main menu to unlock Trouser.^{[9]

The hint for MissingN0 says to run off the edge of the world in Green Acres “with the most adverse fate.” Play the stage on Hyper Mode with Hurry enabled. Head southwest for 10 map tiles and then west for another 10 map tiles until giant winged eyes spawn on the map. Kill 128 of the monsters, and you’ll have MissingN0 available in the menu.^{[10]

The hint for Gains says to find the only place where flowers bloom in the Bone Zone stage. When you start the game on this stage, head straight north until you find a ring of flowers. Stay inside the ring for at least 10 seconds, and Gains becomes available.^{[11]

Gyorunton’s hint says to survive the Boss Rash with one weapon. Begin a run on the Boss Rash bonus stage, and only use a single weapon. You can still pick up passive items. If you survive until the 15-minute mark, then you can quit or die to unlock Gyorunton.^{[12]

The Red Death hint says to settle the score with the Reaper. When you reach the end of a stage at the 31-minute mark, successfully kill the Reaper before it takes you down.^{[13]

Exdash’s hint says to cast the spell “x-x1viiq.” From the main menu or the Secrets menu, use your keyboard to enter the string of letters and characters. You’ll immediately unlock Exdash in the character menu.^{[15]

Toastie The hint for Toastie says to uppercut a non-red reaper. Whenever you defeat a green, blue, or purple reaper character, Toastie will briefly appear in the bottom corner of the screen. When you see him, press Enter and Down Arrow on your keyboard to add him as a playable character.^{[16]

- If you’re playing on a console with a controller, press down on the D-pad and the confirm button (usually A or X).
The hint for Smith states that sometimes, you just need to ask for help. After you unlock Exdash and Toastie, type in “spam” from the main menu. Within the next 30 seconds, go to the character select screen and type in “spam” again. Then, type it in one more time on the stage select screen. When the run starts, type in “humbug.” As soon as you exit your run, Smith becomes an available character.^{[17]

The hint for Bats says to obtain the ring of rings. Once you collect the Apoplexy and Chaos Malachite relics, start a run in the Bat Country bonus stage. Head northeast from the spawn point until you reach a ring made up of 9 Gold Rings. After you collect them all, Bats becomes available as a playable character.^{[18]

Rose’s hint says, “Her royal shadow lies behind the 46th door.” When you’re on the Astral Stair bonus stage, go through the doors on the stage 46 times. You can do this over multiple runs. When you enter the 46th door, you’ll go into a dark room with a coffin that unlocks Rose.^{[19]

The hint for Torino says to witness the 17th Colossus wander to new horizons. Start your run in Mazerella and head north through the passageways to find the 17th Colossus. When it’s awake, it will walk toward the bottom of the stage. Follow the Colossus until it goes past the southern border of the stage, and you’ll be able to play as Torino.^{[20]

To discover Scorej-Oni, the hint says to discover the source of the roaring thunder on the Tiny Bridge. Start your run on the stage and head to the right side to encounter Scorej-Oni. Once you defeat him, he becomes a playable character you can unlock.^{[21]

To get Gyoruntin, the hint says to “Forsake victory in favor of sightseeing in Carlo Cart.” Go to the Carlo Cart stage and move to the left instead of to the right. Eventually, a coffin will spawn surrounded by enemies. After defeating the enemies and interacting with the coffin, Gyoruntin becomes an unlockable character.^{[22]

Secretino’s hint says to spend your afterparty with the foolish high roller. When you’re in the Westwoods stage, purchase the “Preorder Me!” item from the merchant. The item only becomes available once you have the Masquerade relic and have unlocked Chula-Reh as a character. After purchasing the item, you can play as Secretino in your game.^{[23]

The hint for Space Dette says to quickly break the bounds of Space and find Love. To do that, start a run in Space 54 after getting the Space Dude character. Then, locate a pillar with a pulsing heart southeast from spawn. Once you interact with it, you’ll gain Space Dette as a playable character.^{[24]

Random The hint to unlock the Random option says to look under any previously owned coffin. After unlocking a character from a coffin, go back to it during a different run. As soon as you open it again, the Random option gets unlocked in the player menu.^{[25]
