Main Naruto Character Birthdays & Zodiac Signs

  1. We’ll start with Naruto, the show’s chipper protagonist and vessel for the Nine-Tails’ power. He’s saved Leaf Village more times than we can count, and done a lot of growing over the course of the show—and not just in the literal sense! He works hard to gain the respect of his peers and becomes a hero not just to the village, but to the entire world.
    • Birthday: October 10
    • Height: 4 ft, 7 in (145.3 cm) at the beginning; 5 ft, 4 in (166 cm) in Part II
    • Zodiac Sign: Libra

  2. Sasuke might be even more notorious than Naruto himself—unsurprising, considering how many ups and downs his character undergoes throughout the show. He dedicates himself to getting revenge against his brother, Itachi, for annihilating their clan, and ends up being a friendly rival for Naruto during their training.
    • Birthday: July 23
    • Height: 4 ft, 9 in (150.8 cm) at the beginning; 5 ft, 5 in (168 cm) in Part II
    • Zodiac Sign: Leo (Cancer cusp)

  3. Sakura is assigned to Team 7 alongside Naruto and Sasuke, although she initially struggles with her training as a shinobi. After resolving to overcome her weaknesses and become a better shinobi, Sakura eventually becomes one of the world’s best medical-nin! She’s also well-known for her enduring crush on Sasuke, which eventually blossoms into something more.
    • Birthday: March 28
    • Height: 4 ft, 8 in (148.5 cm) at the beginning; 5 ft, 3 in (161 cm) in Part II
    • Zodiac Sign: Aries
  4. Kakashi is the mentor of Team 7’s students (including Naruto, Sasuke, and Sakura), and one of the most skilled ninjas in Konoha. Even if he denies wanting responsibility or leadership, he ends up being pretty great at both, and a lot of people—including his students—look up to him. He understands the importance of teamwork over personal glory and impresses this upon his students, too!
    • Birthday: September 15
    • Height: 5 ft, 9 in (181 cm)
    • Zodiac Sign: Virgo
  5. Though she was born the heiress of the Hyuga clan, Hinata lost the position after being declared unsuited for it—but this ultimately spurred her to make changes in her life and hone her skills, with Naruto being a major inspiration for her. Despite her own family’s doubts about her, Hinata becomes one of the strongest Hyuga clan members by Shippuden’s end.
    • Birthday: December 27
    • Height: 4 ft, 8 in (147.3 cm) at the beginning; 5 ft, 2 in (160 cm) in Part II
    • Zodiac Sign: Capricorn
  6. Rock Lee is a special case among the shinobi-in-training, as he lacks the proper skills to use ninjutsu or genjutsu—but that doesn’t stop him in the least. Instead, he studies with Might Guy to become a taijutsu master (with taijutsu being a technique that relies on the user’s physical and mental energy rather than chakras).[1]
    • Birthday: November 27
    • Height: 5 ft, 2 in (158.5 cm) at the beginning; 5 ft, 6 in (172 cm) in Part II
    • Zodiac Sign: Sagittarius
  7. Gaara was made the jinchuriki of the One-Tailed Shukaku before his birth, and, once born, the people of his village regarded him as a monster. This (understandably) led to a difficult life for Gaara, who initially despised everyone and everything when he was introduced in Naruto. Over time, however, his outlook on life changes through the friendships he makes, particularly with Naruto.[2]
    • Birthday: January 19
    • Height: 4 ft, 8 in (146.1 cm) at the beginning; 5 ft, 4 in (166.1 cm) in Part II
    • Zodiac Sign: Capricorn (Aquarius cusp)
  8. Ino is a member of Team Asuma and Sakura’s childhood friend, although their mutual crush on Sasuke strained things for a while. Nonetheless, Ino is a confident and bold kunoichi, known for her skills as a medical ninja and mastery of mind-manipulation techniques in battle.
    • Birthday: September 23
    • Height: 4 ft, 8 in (149.3 cm) at the beginning; 5 ft, 3 in (162.2 cm) in Part II
    • Zodiac Sign: Libra (Virgo cusp)
  9. Shino is a ninja with a strangely quiet disposition—to the point that his stoicism can unnerve people at times, even though he means well. On Team Kurenai, he makes use of insect-based techniques, reflecting his interest in them; he’s shown to spend a lot of time observing insects and even has a dream of discovering new insect species![3]
    • Birthday: January 23
    • Height: 5 ft, 2 in (156.2 cm), in the beginning; 5 ft, 7 in (175.1 cm) in Part II
    • Zodiac Sign: Aquarius
  10. Neji is considered a prodigy within the Hyuga clan (which is impressive, given the clan’s reputation). He’s a master of close-quarters combat—particularly the Gentle Fist and Byakugan techniques.[4] He also has a limited worldview at the beginning of the series, believing that fate is always predetermined; his friendship with Naruto eventually convinces him that he can make his own destiny.
    • Birthday: July 3
    • Height: 5 ft, 2 in (159. 2 cm) in the beginning; 5 ft, 6 in (172.1 cm) in Part II
    • Zodiac Sign: Cancer
  11. Itachi is Sasuke’s older brother, although the two aren’t close in Naruto—much to the contrary. Sasuke swears revenge against Itachi for massacring their clan, not realizing that Itachi’s motivations were more complicated than simple greed or malice. Rather than being an outright villain, Itachi is more of a tragic anti-hero, performing awful deeds in the name of the greater good.
    • Birthday: June 9
    • Height: 5 ft, 7 in (175.2 cm)
    • Zodiac Sign: Gemini
  12. Tenten doesn’t get much screentime compared to other supporting characters in the show’s main cast, but she still makes an impact as an aspiring weapons-master and fuinjutsu practitioner. And it must be said that Tenten’s goals were ultimately fulfilled; she eventually becomes the proud owner of a weapon shop, reflecting her deep knowledge of various weapon types.[5]
    • Birthday: March 9
    • Height: 5 ft (154.3 cm) in the beginning; 5 ft, 3 in (164 cm) in Part II
    • Zodiac Sign: Pisces
