Miguel from Jujutsu Kaisen Explained
Anime & gaming expert Connor Barnes says Miguel Oduol is a very strong sorcerer in JJK. He initially served under Suguru Geto’s command and fought against Gojo. After Geto’s defeat, Gojo recruited Miguel to train Okkotsu. He’s strong thanks to his Prayer Song cursed technique, stamina, and Black Rope cursed tool.
Steps
What role does Miguel play in the story?
-
Miguel starts off as one of Suguru Geto’s partners. When he’s first introduced, Miguel serves as a partner to Suguru Geto during the Night Parade of a Hundred Demons in Jujutsu Kaisen 0. Although Miguel didn’t share the same desire to exterminate all non-sorcerers, he was especially loyal to Geto and wanted him to become the king. He even went as far as to fight Satoru Gojo for him, and surprisingly kept up with The Honored One.[5]
- His efforts during the Night Parade of a Hundred Demons earned him the title of “MVP” from Suguru Geto.
-
He goes on to become Yuta Okkotsu’s mentor. After the death of Geto, Gojo approached Miguel and designated him as Yuta Okkotsu’s mentor and trainer. After the events of Jujutsu Kaisen 0, Miguel and Okkotsu go to Miguel’s home in Kenya, where Miguel trains Yuta and teaches him how to better harness his cursed energy.[6]
- After his defeat at the hands of Gojo, Miguel was reluctant to speak to him, telling Yuta that he didn’t want to talk.
-
Towards the end of the story, Miguel returns to help fight Sukuna. Alongside Larue (another one of Geto’s former disciples), Miguel returns during the Shinjuku Showdown arc to help fight against Sukuna with the rest of JJK’s main characters. Just before Sukuna kills Ui Ui and defeats Atsuya Kusakabe, Miguel shows back up to save him. He and Larue then engage Sukuna in combat.[7]
- Although he didn’t beat Sukuna, Miguel was able to hold him off until Sukuna adapted to his fighting style, after which he retreated.
