   Wookiees are tall, hairy creatures from a planet filled with tall trees. If you were to describe a wookiee, you might call it a walking carpet (and you wouldn't be the first). But that's not giving this highly intelligent alien enough credit. Wookiees are more than just hair: they're fierce warriors who can be wise, faithful, or incredibly dangerous if you get on their bad side. They mostly speak a unique growling language called Shyriiwook, and they're almost all over 6.5 ft (2 m) when fully grown!

   Twi'lek are a humanoid species with 2 headtails and colorful skin. Twi'leks run the gamut of occupations, from Jedi Knights and rebel generals to entertainers and maitre d's for sleazy crime lords. They're universally admired for their skin, which appears in a wide variety of colors, and the 2 fleshy tails (called lekku) sprouting from the back of their heads. This short, fur-covered alien species is far cleverer than they look, and has been known to successfully capture a creature as mighty as a wookiee. They can also do a surprising amount of damage against advanced Imperial weaponry using only primitive slingshots, arrows, and log battering rams! And while they might try to eat you at first, if you bring a golden protocol droid with you, you just might escape by pretending to be the servant of their new deity.

Gungan

   Gungans are underwater-dwellers with a unique way of speaking. This species is not amphibious, but Gungans can hold their water for long periods of time. For safety, all their cities on their home planet are built underwater. Gungans are inventive and great fighters, but they're not so savvy when it comes to politics. Some of their Senate representatives' decisions have led to far-reaching consequences for the entire galaxy.

   • Gungans are one of the most popular Star Wars aliens, but they’re also widely disliked by fans, Bozaia says. This is in large part due to Jar Jar Binks, who talks with a derpy accent, is clumsy, makes a lot of mistakes, and messes everything up.
   • Bozaia adds that he personally started disliking the Gungans after the Gungan army beat General Grievous in The Clone Wars.

Gen'Dai

1. The Gen’Dai are a rare alien species made of tentacles. According to Bozaia, the Gen’Dai are a rare species that not many casual Star Wars fans know about, as there are only 2 named Gen’Dai that come from the comics and a video game. He explains that the Gen’Dai are made of tentacles and live for hundreds to thousands of years. They are not Force-sensitive (so they don’t have lightsabers); however, they're able to contest against Force-wielders and lightsaber users, like the Jedi and Sith.

   • Homeworld: Unnamed planet that was destroyed, leaving the Gen’Dai to become nomads and bounty hunters
   • Famous characters: The only two Gen’Dai characters are Durge and Ravus, who are both bounty hunter characters, says Bozaia.
   • Bozaia notes that Ravus killed Jedi during the High Republic, which is the era of the strongest Jedi. He was defeated, but because he had so much honor, he became a slave to the person who defeated him. He was still a really powerful character, so much so that once his master was defeated, it took 10 Jedi to defeat and capture Ravus again.

Zabrak

   Zabraks are fierce-looking humanoids with short horns on their heads. If you ever see a Zabrak on the street, you might be a little put off by their appearance, especially if they're the Dathomirian variety. And you might be right to be wary, because Zabrak are known for their aggressive nature. The scariest looking ones hail from Dathomir, have red or yellow skin, and distinctive black markings all over their bodies. Meanwhile, the Zabraks from Iridonia tend to have more human-colored skin.

   This species requires a mask to breathe in oxygen-rich atmospheres. The wise and patient Kel Dor require several modifications to survive in what humans consider normal, oxygen-rich environments. Firstly, they wear a mask over their mouth and nose to help them breathe. Secondly, they wear dark goggles to prevent their eyeballs from dissolving. Despite needing these aids to survive, they're still incredibly tough—mentally and physically! For example, their orange leathery skin can hold up in the cold vacuum of space for at least a few minutes. This allows them to do spacewalks without a spacesuit, which most normal humans would find impossible.

   Nautolans are peaceful aliens with green skin and tentacle-like headtails. Unlike Gungans, who just hold their breath underwater, Nautolans can breathe underwater or on land with ease. Their headtails are equipped with sensitive olfactory receptors, which allow them to pick up the scent of pheromones put out by other beings. In other words, they can tell what kind of mood another person is in, just by standing close to them! These are fleshy horns that rise out of their heads and which they use for hearing. They also have at least 3 headtails: two draping their shoulders and one dangling down their back. Their skin can be red, orange, yellow, or other hues, with white markings that develop in unique patterns on each individual. Kaminoan

   Kaminoans are tall, pale aliens with large eyes and a talent for cloning. This alien species is native to Kaminoa, a planet filled with roiling seas. They live in domes that rise above the water on stilts, but they can also breathe underwater. Mirialans hail from the planet Mirial, and they look almost exactly like humans except for their skin color (which can be green, yellow, or purple). Most Mirialans also tattoo their faces with black markings after making certain achievements or completing important tasks.

Hutt

   Hutts are large slug-like aliens associated with the criminal underworld. The word "Hutt" is almost synonymous with crime, as most of these aliens are involved in the Hutt Clan crime syndicate. Hutts are incredibly intelligent and surprisingly strong, but most of them can't move very fast because of their slug body type and general laziness (with the exception of Rotta the Hutt, who is a trained prize fighter). They prefer riding around on hovercraft or being carried by their slaves.

Their most common emotions are rage and aggression, but they're also capable of tamping down these baser urges.    Clawdites can change their appearance to look like other beings. In their normal state, the humanoid Clawdites look somewhat reptilian, with textured skin, slitted pupils, and high cheekbones. But thanks to special color-changing cells in their skin called chromatophores, they can change their appearance to look like other humanoids.

   Jawas are short, cloaked aliens with glowing eyes and are obsessed with junk. There isn't much to say about the appearance of Jawas, other than their short stature and glowing red or yellow eyes. That's because they keep most of their body hidden beneath brown cloaks and hoods. While you may not know exactly what they look like, you know what they sound like because they're always chattering in their own language. They have a special fondness for junk and making questionable trades, and have been known to strip fallen ships and scavenge abandoned droids.

Mon Calamari

   Mon Calamari are amphibious aliens and renowned shipbuilders. This alien species looks like it evolved from the ocean, and indeed, it did. Mon Calamari are able to breathe in the water as well as on land, and they have flippers on their hands and feet. Their skin is typically salmon or bronze, and they have large, offset eyes, domed heads, and gills. Despite being most at home underwater, they're excellent shipbuilders and are responsible for constructing most of the warships in the Rebel Alliance fleet.

   Geonosians are bug-like aliens known for making battle droids. This alien species resembles human-sized insects and lives in a hive-like society with a queen. They're native to a desert planet called Geonosis, where they produced droids for the Separatists during the Clone Wars. They were also instrumental in developing the plans for the planet-killing space station, the Death Star, as well as constructing it. The Empire enslaved and later destroyed almost all the Geonosians on their home planet, leaving only one alive to carry on the species.

   Tusken raiders are desert-dwelling nomads shrouded in mystery. Nobody knows who the Tuskens are, whether they're humans or aliens or a blend of both. They're clothed from head to toe, and they speak either with hand signs or in a guttural language known only to themselves. They live in nomadic tribes and believe that all water on the planet is promised to them. This leads them to raid local moisture farms and other human settlements. They usually kill the humans they find with their gaderffii sticks or rifles. On extremely rare occasions (as in the case of bounty hunter Boba Fett), they accept new people into their society.
