Learn the Lucky Coward’s special attacks and passives
PDF download Download Article

Lucky Coward, more commonly known as Haruta, has one of the most unique movesets in Jujutsu Shenanigans. While the character normally has a sword for fighting, you can perfectly dodge attacks when he’s unarmed to avoid damage and get Miracles. While the timing takes a little practice, you can take on a lot of tough opponents once you get it down. Keep reading, and we’ll walk you through how dodging works along with strategies to help you win your next fight!

How to Properly Dodge with Haruta on JJS

To dodge with Haruta (Lucky Coward), use your special to go into Swordless mode. When your opponent attacks, press the Block button when the white circle appears around your character to dodge the attack. You can dodge multiple attacks in a row by pressing Block repeatedly or by holding the button down.

  1. You can only use Haruta’s special dodge move when you’re unarmed in Swordless mode. Target your opponent and press the Special button to send your sword in their direction. Alternatively, use your Cheap Shot ability to throw your sword and cause damage at the same time. To activate your special:[1]
    • PC: R
    • Mobile: Star icon
    • Console: Left D-pad
  2. Dodges used to be tied to your basic melee attacks, or M1s, but they were recently changed to Block in an update. When your opponent attacks with a melee or projectile, wait for a white circle to appear around your character. Quickly activate your Block to avoid damage with a perfect dodge and earn a Miracle. To activate Block, press:[2]
    • PC: F
    • Mobile: Shield icon
    • Xbox: X
    • PlayStation: Square

  3. If you successfully dodge your opponent’s attack, its cooldown is only 0.15 seconds so you’re able to dodge the next attack. If their attack is part of a combo that has multiple hits, just hold down the Block button to dodge all of the attacks and take no damage.
    • If you miss a dodge or time it incorrectly, then the cooldown is increased to 1 second and you may become more vulnerable in a fight.
    • More powerful attacks and specials cannot be dodged, so be careful and try to dash out of the way instead.

How to Get Miracles with Haruta in JJS

  1. Miracles are the 6 triangles above your Awakening, and spending them allows you to use special abilities. Every time you perfectly dodge an attack when you’re in Swordless mode, you gain 1 Miracle.
    • You always start off with 3 Miracles, and you can never have more than 6.
  2. When you’re unarmed without your sword, your basic melee or M1 turns into a taunt against your opponent. If your opponent is standing up and near you, activate your taunt. The taunt animation lasts about 2 seconds, but you’ll earn 1 Miracle after 1.5 seconds.[3]
  3. When your opponent is in the middle of an attack or action, do your best to hit them with a melee or your Ambush, Backstab, or Trip abilities. Haruta’s ult, Jawbreaker, also stuns your opponent for 8 seconds after it hits, leaving them vulnerable to attacks. Any time you successfully land a hit during these conditions, you gain a Miracle.

Tips for Using Haruta in JJS

  1. When you would normally take enough damage to get knocked out, you can spend 3 Miracles to immediately revive with 10 HP. While you can also use Miracles for an extra ragdoll cancel during a combo, it’s better to save them. Haruta’s lower HP means he can get taken out faster, and having a few revives can put you at an advantage.[4]
  2. When your opponent tries to attack you, use your Dash and move to the side to get behind them. Then, immediately use your Backstab ability. Using Backstab from behind stuns your opponent for a little longer, so you’re able to combo multiple melees immediately after.[5]
  3. When you stun or knock your opponent down, continue following them to attack with your melees. Take advantage of your Trip ability when enemies get close to you to knock them down and immediately attack them with your sword. You can also use your Ambush ability to repeatedly stab your opponent while they’re on the ground to deal additional damage.[6]
  4. When you use your special while targeting your opponent, your sword follows them. Your Ankle Cutter and High Time abilities make the sword attack on its own, so you can stand far away and deal damage without putting yourself at risk.
    • Haruta’s Jawbreaker ult attack also works when you’re in Swordless mode, so it’s a good way to stun your opponent and get the upper hand.
  5. If you’re unarmed and your opponent is running towards you to attack, use your Dirty Play ability to pull the sword back to you. If it hits your opponent on the way back, it will damage and knock them over so you get an advantage on the next attack.[7]
