Yuta—aka Cursed Partners—is one of the most powerful and versatile characters in Jujutsu Shenanigans. Yuta is based on Yuta Okkotsu from Jujutsu Kaisen, a special grade cursed human haunted by the spirit of his childhood friend, Rika Orimoto. We’re breaking down everything to know about the Cursed Partners, including Yuta’s base moveset, Rika’s base moveset, plus their Awakening and Domain Expansion—and whether Yuta is a good choice for players. Let’s get started!

Yuta (Cursed Partners) in JJS

Yuta is one of the Cursed Partners in Jujutsu Shenanigans. You start out as Yuta, but you can summon his ghost companion Rika using the Special (R) or by triggering his Awakening. You then have access to both Yuta’s and Rika’s movesets, making this one of the most versatile characters in the game.

Base moveset Yuta’s base moveset primarily revolves around his katana. These slashing attacks can do a lot of damage to an opponent, helping fill your Awakening bar quickly. Yuta’s base moveset includes:^{[1]

- (M1—Click/Hold) Swordsmanship: Yuta slashes his katana.
- (1) Severing Path: A forward step with a flurry of katana slashes, followed by 4 more if the last hit connects. Has a more powerful variant if you use it twice.^{[2]

- (2) Resolute Slash: Yuta stuns the target & teleports behind them, then slashes horizontally with his katana.
- (3) Veilstep: Upward kick that launches the opponent into the air; brief melee immunity. Has an air variant.
- (4) Revolve: Upward jump that pulls the opponent into the air while slashing them, followed by a downslam. Has an air variant.
- (Special—R) Summon Rika: Activating Yuta’s Special move summons Rika, the Queen of Curses. She will remain active for 1 move. The user has access to both Yuta’s and Rika’s movesets while Rika is summoned, for a total of 8 moves.^{[3]

Rika’s base moveset When Rika is summoned using the Special, simply hit R again to switch to her moveset. During the Special, Rika is only partially manifested (appearing as a black cloud with a face and arms). She can travel through walls and is immune to attacks. She will automatically attack the opponent player targets with the cursor, or the closest opponent if no one is targeted. Rika’s base moveset includes:^{[4]

- (R+1) Rika Downslam: Rika hovers above a nearby enemy, then slams them to the ground. Has an air variant.
- (R+2) Rika Launch: Rika launches Yuta into the air. Will cancel other moves if used simultaneously.
- (R+3) Rika Throw: Rika throws Yuta forcefully. If Yuta connects with an opponent, it damages and ragdolls them, but if he misses, Yuta is injured.
- (R+4) Rika Haymaker: Rita hovers over a nearby enemy, then hits them with a knockback blow. Attempting to block the attack increases the ragdoll time.

Awakening: True Love (G) Yuta summons Rika for 60 seconds, unlocking both Yuta and Rika’s Awakening movesets. During the Awakening, Rika is fully summoned, appearing as a specter with a white torso, head, and arms, and a gray lower body. Activating True Love heals Yuta for 15 HP.^{[5]

- (1) Elbow Rush: Yuta uses a metal covering on his arm to knock back the opponent, then Yuta and Rika teleport behind the opponent and deliver a flurry of blows, plus one final knock back hit. If Rika is busy, Yuta will attack alone for half the damage.
- (2) Copy: Copy is Yuta’s Cursed Technique. This move activates Cursed Speech or a move copied from the last enemy attacked by Rika. (The move that will be activated is shown in Copy’s skill box.)
- (3) True Love Beam: Rika and Yuta summon a pink orb that unleashes a powerful beam. This move does more damage to targets closer to the player. A smaller beam can be triggered by pressing 3 again during the windup.
- (4) Domain Expansion—Authentic Mutual Love: Pressing 4 during the Awakening will trigger the Cursed Partners’ Domain Expansion, Authentic Mutual Love (described below).
- (4) Alt: Jacob’s Ladder: Land 4 katana hits, then press 4. Triggers a powerful beam of light that lifts the opponent into the air, then kills them.^{[7]

Rika’s Awakening Moves (R) During the Awakening, press (R) to swap to Rika’s moveset. Rika’s Awakening moveset repeats Rika Downslam and Rika Throw from the base moves, but it also adds two new moves, Rika Slam and Rika Grab. Rika’s full Awakening moveset includes:^{[8]

- (R+1) Rika Downslam: Rika hovers above a nearby enemy, then slams them to the ground.
- (R+2) Rika Slam: Rika hovers over the target, then grabs them by the leg and slams them into the ground several times.
- (R+3) Rika Grab: Rika hovers over a ragdolled opponent, then grabs and squeezes them. She releases them after 2 seconds or once they’ve been attacked.
- (R+4) Rika Throw: Rika throws Yuta forcefully. If Yuta connects with an opponent, it damages and ragdolls them, but if he misses, Yuta is injured.

Domain Expansion: Authentic Mutual Love The Cursed Partners’ Domain Expansion looks like a stone platform, with knotted ropes creating the upper boundary. The domain lasts 45 seconds, but it will break right away if no enemies are inside. Four katanas will land near you—just stand near one and equip it to activate a copied technique. Several techniques can be used during one run. The copied techniques in the Domain Expansion include:^{[9]

- Shrine: A katana blow followed by 4 slashes that stun the opponent.
- Thin Ice Breaker: Increases the strength of katana blows. This move also shatters the sky, and the pieces rain down and injure opponents inside the Domain Expansion.
- Clairvoyance: Katana slash that marks the opponent and allows the player to dodge attacks for 10 seconds (or 5 seconds if the slash misses).
- Cursed Speech: A katana strike followed by a grounding blow.
- Shikigami: Attacks the opponent with 3 shikigamis that look like flying Rika heads.

Yuta’s Combos in JJS

Yuta’s known for having powerful combos. Stacking Yuta’s moves does a lot of damage. Even better, his combos are pretty easy to get the hang of. You can easily combo a lot of moves just by triggering them next to each other. We’ve included two sample combos, plus a combo extender tip when you’re in an Awakening. Try these out next time you’re playing as Yuta:

Is Yuta good to use in JJS?

Yuta is a really powerful character in JJS. That has pros and cons. Yuta’s a pretty beginner-friendly character, despite the expanded moveset. His attacks do a lot of damage and can combo easily, and there’s little startup or endlag for most moves.
- That said, Yuta has a reputation for being “braindead,” meaning he doesn’t take a lot of skill to master. For instance, this video from YouTuber NoobEternally describes him as both braindead and busted because he’s so powerful but also simple to use.
  - Similarly, this TikTok from @thebaconsorcerer is captioned, “gojo and yuta mains fighting for who is the most braindead character,” and this TikTok from @berserkist includes Yuta as one of the top 3 most braindead characters in JJS.
- Yuta has a few drawbacks, too—his Domain Expansion has a really long startup and doesn’t have a sure-hit attack, and some of the moves are difficult to land (like Resolute Slash or True Love Beam). And if you miss with Rika Throw, the endlag can leave you vulnerable to a lot of damage from the opponent.^{[13]
