  1. Peter Parker is the Spider-Man who started it all. There are a lot of variations of Parker’s superhero, but he started out as a shy kid who got bit by a radioactive spider in Stan Lee’s 1962 comic AMAZING FANTASY #15. Just a few months later, he got his very own comic—AMAZING SPIDER-MAN—and the Spideyverse was born.[1]
    • First appearance: AMAZING FANTASY #15 (1962)
    • Origin: Earth-616
    • Note: An animated version of this Spider-Man appeared in 1967.

  1. We didn’t want to take up three spots for the movie Spideys, but these guys all definitely deserve a mention. Tobey Maguire, Andrew Garfield, and Tom Holland have all played Spider-Man in films. Each one brings something unique to the role, but all three actors play the character with relatable boy-next-door charm—and plenty of heart.
    • First appearances:
      • Tobey Maguire: Spider-Man (2002); director Sam Raimi
      • Andrew Garfield: The Amazing Spider-Man (2012); director Marc Webb
      • Tom Holland: Captain America: Civil War (2016); directors Joe & Anthony Russo
