Some of these are featured more prominently and others are more subtle, but they all add up to create a rich lore. Shinobi Rank symbols in Naruto

  1. In Naruto, the ninjas (or shinobi) move through a series of ranks as they complete their training. When students graduate from the Ninja Academy, they’re given the official ninja rank of Genin, as well as a headband featuring a metal decorated with their village's icon.[1]
    • The headbands function as both an identifier and a head protector.
    • From there, the shinobi continue moving through the ranks of Chūnin, Special Jonin, Jonin, Jonin Commander, and Kage.
    • Shinobi receive an elite tactical vest once they reach the Chūnin tier. After that, there are no special symbols to denote the other ranks.
    • We’ll go over the village symbols in the next section.
