Who are the major characters in Tougen Anki?

The protagonist of Tougen Anki is Shiki Ichinose, a teen who finds out he’s an Oni and enrolls in the Oni training school Rasetsu Academy. Other major characters include Naito Mudano, a teacher at Rasetsu and Shiki’s mentor; Jin Kougasaki, Shiki’s rival; and Samidare Momoya, a Momotaro and Shiki’s arch-enemy.

Shiki Ichinose Shiki is the protagonist of Tougen Anki. His story begins when he learns that he is an Oni, a humanoid species with blood-based powers, and a part of an ancient conflict with the Momotaro, another humanoid species with powerful abilities. After he and his adoptive father are attacked by a Momotaro, Shiki is whisked away to Rasetsu Academy, a secret school to train Oni. He’s confident, impulsive, and hot-headed, but also deeply kind.^{[1]

Naito Mudano Naito is an Oni and a professor at Rasetsu Academy. He’s responsible for admitting Shiki to the school and becomes his mentor, teaching him how to control his powers. He’s a strict, cold, and serious man, but that’s only because he truly cares about his students and wants them to be as strong as they can be.

Jin Kougasaki Jin is an Oni student at Rasetsu Academy. He and Shiki quickly come to blows as soon as Shiki enters the school and develop a bitter rivalry. Jin is arrogant, cold, and surprisingly calm, and harbors a deep resentment for Momotaro due to his tragic past.^{[2]

Ikari Yaoroshi Ikari is a hotheaded student who butts heads with Shiki, though he’s not too friendly with anyone at school. He loves to fight and takes pride in his combat abilities. Ikari is also surprisingly naive and thinks of love and relationships in a very innocent way.

Juji Yusurube Juji is a levelheaded and intelligent student who’s determined to become a great Oni. Despite his seriousness and responsible nature in the classroom, he’s very immature when it comes to women and definitely has a bit of a perverted streak.

Kyoya Oiranzaka Kyoya is the commander of the Oni Corporation’s support squad who helps heal injured Onis. He’s well suited to the job due to his calm, cheerful, and optimistic personality, though he does have a playful and flirtatious streak! Tsuyoshi IchinoseTsuyoshi is Shiki’s adoptive father, who found Shiki in a trash can as a baby. While he’s a Momotaro, he cut ties with the Momotaro Corporation after deciding to take Shiki in. This unfortunately left Tsuyoshi and Shiki in constant danger of the Momotaro, and Tsuyoshi tragically dies at the beginning of the series while trying to protect Shiki from a Momotaro attack.^{[8]

Samidare Momoya Samidare is a General Commanding Officer of Momotaro Corp. As a Momotaro, he can produce black bacteria from his body and manipulate it as a weapon. He’s the one who attacks Shiki and Tsuyoshi at the beginning of the series, killing Tsuyoshi and becoming Shiki’s arch-enemy. Samidare is serious and dutiful, and merciless toward Oni.^{[9]
